Howdy,

I’m looking at getting the Zulu 6 12x42 or Z6 HDX Pro 14x50s. I’ve read the other chats about the differences between the models, I never see max viewing distance being mentioned. Or maybe I missed it. Anyways, just curious how far you guys are seeing with the IS technology. I’m hoping to be able to see elk between 2-3 miles free hand :) Happy Hunting.

I would say the glass quality is the limiting factor with them, not that it’s bad, but they are no NL’s

The image stabilization works really well though, I have the 12’s and think they will be on my chest during archery season rather than my 12x NL, I think I like them better for the application and if I keep liking them as much as I think I might get some 10’s too

Should have no problem spotting elk at those distances, I’ve done that freehand with vortex Diamondback 12x50’s before I got my Zulu 6’s. I’ve legit spotted mulies on clear spring days at 8-10 miles

I used the 12x last fall on archery elk hunt and was able to pick up a herd around 2.5-3 miles. Also picked up a solo bull but by no means was I counting points. Could just tell he was mature. I had to work a bit to see his antlers. This was approaching sunset so not full light.
