Well I made the mistake of looking thru Zulus and now I gotta have some…

The pair I used was 10s and I’ve only ever used 10s. With the IS I think I could go up a smidge on mag to the 12s. Curious for those who have used both - is the FOV drastically different between the 10s and 12s? I assume there isn’t much of a difference in image quality between the two?

For further context I live in the Midwest and hunt whitetails but head west once or twice a year depending on what tags I can get. I’ve been doing more rifle hunting as of late so one a fair amount of glassing. That said - I still would be using them in a treestand a lot so I don’t want to go beyond 12s on the mag.

I have the 16X zulu, my dad and hunting buddy have the 12X, and my wife has the 10X. I've gone back and forth between all of them. The biggest thing is the 10X are a on off from the rest in size and weight. The 12s, 16s, and 20s are all the same size/weight. The 10s are cute and work like a champ. For where I hunt I like the 16s even if the FOV is limited when distances aren't as far. If getting the smallest lightest package the 10s win hands down.

The 12s are likely the best do all IMO but I'm not trading in my 16s to get them.

I have a set of the 14x50s right now, super impressed with the glass quality and brightness. As far as I know every model except the 10x30s have roughly the same FOV of about 200ft @1000yds. The exit pupil of the 12x42 and 14x50 seem to be sweet spot, with the 12s edging out the two in weight and compactness, and the 14s having better optical quality and coatings. Gear Fool has a great video on YouTube breaking some of this down.

I’m selling my 14s on the optics classifieds right now to go to the 10x30s, I need these as chest binos for archery and for my son to start using, and for me size is going to be king even though I wish I could make these 14s work because they are so damn impressive…
