I’m buying one of these for a carry pistol while in the outdoors. Most likely in/on a bino harness while black bear hunting. Does the 1/2” longer barrel make much difference when it comes to velocity and accuracy? I’m talking about the accuracy of the pistol, but does the increased sight picture make a difference?

I own and carry both. I also have big hands. The p365 is a great gun. Conceals very well. I have issues reloading it due to the bottom of my hand protruding below the Magwell. It shoots fine for me though I prefer it with 10 round mags and the slight extension on the bottom. The XL is easier for me to run and shoot more easily due to added grip, it for a carry gun, chances are I wouldn’t be doing any fast reloads. I think both are pretty accurate with a slight edge to the XL for added sight radius.

both are great. I tend to carry my xl (now wearing a micro red dot) more. The p365 is a waRM weather carry option fr me. If I only had one, I would probably keep the XL. I just like shooting it more And it conceals fine.

I have the 365. Besides every day carry, hunting and fishing, I do a lot of hiking, and I sometimes forget that I have it. It's accurate and small enough that you can wear it/hide it many different ways. I have large hands as well and originally went to get the Xl version, thinking that it would fit my hands better, but to my surprise the 365 fit me just fine. I don't think either one would be a bad choice. Good luck with whichever one you choose.

Thank you for the responses, but to be clear, I’m looking at the X & XL. Both have the extended grip, but the XL has a slightly longer 1/2” barrel.

I'd definitely go with the XL then. If for no other reason than it gives you the option, if you choose, to go with a Holosun 507c & a Tlr7sub light doesn't hang off the end.

Personally, my preference is the standard frame with the XL slide. I get to run the sight & light, plus I have the option of 10rd mags for IWB concealment & 12 or 15s for backcountry carry when I'm not concerned about printing. With the XL frame, you can't use the 10 round mag.

XL for sure. I would bet a paycheck if there were a large scale test run among average Joe users that people would both prefer the XL and shoot it better.

The only advantage of the X is the concealability, which doesn’t sound like a top priority for you.

I bought an X in July. My CC up to that point had been a Kahr PM9, which was a great little shooter, way better recoil absorption than a 9 shooting defense ammo had any right to be, and very concealable(narrow).
I wanted the extra mag capacity so I checked out a bunch, including Sig365XL, Springfield, SW, (Glock never was in the running) and kept coming back to the Sig.
Anyway, I have shot the smallest groups at the range with the Sig 365X, standard night sight package, and the recoil is very manageable. I will say, the width and weight of those 5 extra rounds is noticeable and it doesn't conceal as well as the Kahr.
I have no regrets as far as not buying the XL.
Note: unless you have bricklayer thumbs, buy an Uplula magloader, these 12-round mags have ridiculous springs. Never experienced that problem with any other magazines before. They work, but it was painful trying to get those things filled with 12.

I do the same setup as you rob, with the smaller grip and xl slide, glad to see you're still liking it since i remember your thread on the gun. I like that combo too, gives me the option to have the 10rd in t shirt weather for slightly less imprint but i can still use the 12rd for this time of year. The longer slide doesnt effect imprinting or comfort with carrying and at the time of my purchase only the XL had the slide milled. But the OP is no longer limited to one or the other size choice for the RDS compatibility anymore, the p365X is newer and also comes with the slide milled, not just the XL.

I dont really think you'll gain a ton of accuracy with the XL over the X, i might have bought the X if it was released at the time i bought my XL

As it happens, I have an X as well. I didn’t shoot it much before adding a T Rex arms comp and a dot but it shoots fine. Not much difference between the sight radius on the slides. as I said above, I prefer the longer grip. IMO the grip length is one of the key determinants of concealbility. I don’t think there is much difference in the XL and X in that department.

We bought a 365 for my wife. I have carried it as my EDC a few times. If I were looking at it for EDC as well as the woods, it would have been the XL.

Well, I learned something! I didn't know the X slide had the RMR cut like the XL slide. I did wonder why they didn't just do it across the board on all models.

I have both. Carry both. Go xl. And get the Wilson combat grip ASAP.
