I am close to buying a cross. optic TBD. Deciding between two of my current scopes. What ring heights would best suit either a:
  • NF NX8 2-20x50mm
  • NF NXS 2.5-10x42mm

My buddy had medium Warne rings on his Cross with an SWFA 3-15. Ended up returning them and getting highs because even with the cheek piece all the way down, the mediums were too low for most shooters (him, me, and some other buddies). YMMV. Here it is with the highs and you can see the cheek piece is still pretty close to all the way down.

Just bought a Sig Cross today, gonna put an NXS 2.5-10 on it to keep it light. I've got a 1.5" mount (not rings) that I'm gonna use with it to start off but may end up buying some rings down the road to save a few ounces. FWIW, I watched a YouTube review where the reviewer said he was using a 1" height mount and found it to be a little too short. Think it'll be a week or two before I've got the rifle (getting it through a buddy who has an FFL and shipping is slow), but I can post an update on the height when it shows up if you've not settled on a ring height yet.

I have the Nightforce NX8 2.5-20x50 for my Sig Cross.

Made the mistake of ordering the Nightforce Ultralight X-Treme Duty Rings in Low (.885) thinking I’d still have clearance since I have three other rifles with 50mm objectives and they’re all perfect.

It wasn’t even close because the Nightforce NX8 optics have a couple of raised, milled spots on the power ring. One that’s threaded for the throw lever, but that one’s not the problem, the section with the set screw for the power ring protrudes quite a bit and would contact the pic rail when the scope was turned to 10 power since that setting is 180 degrees from the milled set screw protrusion.

I returned the Low (.885) rings and ordered the High (1.125”) rings instead. Perfect fit. I’m convinced that the Medium (1.0”) rings wouldn’t have worked. Good luck!
