I'm pondering a 6cm or a 6.5X47 upgrade for my 308. Has anyone worked up a load in a Cross with a Carbon Six 6creed barrel from @Schnee's ? I'm curious to know what accuracy/velocity can be attained in a 20" barrel with bullets >103gr. Same for the 6.5X47 with >130gr bullets if anyone went that route.

Sorry, wish we had some data for you. I did talk with a guy who got one of the 6.5x47 barrels from us a while back. He called us just to tell me how good it shot and he was super happy with it. - matt

There's no wrong answer between the 2.
There's slightly more component options for the cm although the x47 has lapua brass so no need to look further. 6mm bullets have been much easier to find the last couple years.
I have a 20" 6mm creedmoor(carbon six barrel, 1:7 twist on a tikka) and with peterson small rifle brass I shoot the 108 at 3000 fps with H4350.

Do you reload mostly, or plan on shooting factory loads?

If factory, then you'll want the 6CM. Barrel life will be much better with the x47L

x47L is my main PRS round. I shoot 130 berger hybrids exactly at 2900 fps using 37.7 of varget, lapua brass, and FGMM primers. Gun has been amazingly consistent and I haven't had any changes in accuracy, velocity, or consistency over 2500+ rounds. These velocity figures are from a 26in barrel, so I would plan for about 100fps if going with a 20in barrel.

There's alot of rounds with sexier ballistics than an x47, if you want max performance it's not the round.

I went with the x47 for consistency. It has by far been the easiest round to tune a load for that I have ever shot. Literally 2 range sessions totaling about 50 rounds, and I had my load worked up and no stats have changed significantly over 2500 rounds.

If you want consistency, x47. If you want ballistic performance go with the 6CM.
