Sierra Tipped GameKing Performance

I’ve killed dozens animals, whitetails, antelope and hogs with the 130 TGKs out of a 6.5 Creedmoor. Farthest was 725 closest was 25 -30. None have made it out of sight.
...
They are definitely a harder bullet than a TMK or ELDM but not any harder than a Nosler Ballistic Tip, of similar weight in the same caliber. They’re very accurate in my rifles, expand well and do significant tissue damage and sometimes exit. Excellent hunting bullet IMO.
My hunting partners and I have killed a bunch of WT, MD, elk, PH, etc., with the 147 ELDM from 6.5 CMs, and we get moderate wound channels and usually get exits. Not sure it's much softer than the 130 TGK, based on your reported results versus what we've seen.

Unless Sierra has serious lot to lot variability of the TGK’s- they are not similar to the 147gr ELD-M. The 6.5 TGK I’ve seen were closer to Federak TA’s in wounding.

Good to know they are as good as federal TA and are better than a eld-m for hunting, as sig had loaded 140gr TGK for sale @ $14 per box in 270win
So we bought a case of them ,

Thanks for the info as i will try them one day. Curious how the .30 cal TGK may compare to the .30 cal 165 HP gamekings.

I haven't yet had to need to try the TGK as i have beaucoup 165 gr HP gamekings yet to go through...those commonly put half-dollar to even baseball-sized exit wounds on deer behind the shoulder from a .308 or 30-06. The benefit is they usually result in short tracking efforts in very thick brush.

165 Tipped Game King 289 yds, that’s the exit. They work great on deer sized game. They expand just fine. I’ve killed antelope, deer, and elk with them out of a 6.5 Creedmoor, 308 Winchester and 25-06. From a few yards out to 725. Put it where it belongs and it will kill the shit out of whatever you shoot with them. IMG_7639.jpeg

. 308 Tipped Game Kings from 120 to a little over 300 yds. None made it more than a few steps from point of impact to where they died.

In general, yes. This is probably the bullet most hunters should use.

I added some data to this post with Fed Fusion Tipped from my 7 PRC. I really liked the results. I have used Bergers for the last few animals and didn't love the damage they cause if you strike a bone. I hit an elk quater to and didn't tuck it behind the shoulder enough, I hit the bone and lost most of the front shoulder. I didn't like that. I understand it was my fault I hit her there, but shit happens in the field. So I have been on the lookout for a 'happy medium' bullet - one that causes a lot of damage, yet doesn't explode into a million pieces if you do hit a bone. TGK and these FFT were my main two I wanted to test.
