Does anyone have any hunting experience with these bullets? I'd like to try the 7mm 165 in the 280 AI. I haven't seen them in stock forever, 150s can be had. Just looking at other options in case I run out of Accubonds.
no experience with them but i know selway armory has one box of the 160 grain available.
i've always liked the accuracy of the sierra bullets but the game kings always felt like old technology to me so i never used them for hunting.
I use 165s in a 308. Performance is good but it is not comparable to an accubond. It’s a basic tipped cup and core bullet. I shot a 200 lb whitetail buck at 200 yards from an 18” barrel with 2650 muzzle velocity. Impact should have been around 2300. I hit him in the shoulder hoping to stop him in his tracks because there was a creek down a steep bluff that I didn’t want him to make it to. He ran about 65 yards and dropped just inside the trees without leaving a drop of blood. The bullet exploded and didn’t exit. I have killed several others with good results. I’m not blaming the bullet for me not keeping it off of bone but I’m confident an accubond would have left a whole leaking blood on the other side.
thanks guys for the reply, looks like I'll stick with Nosler stuff then. I put a 160 Ballistic tip through both front shoulders of a mature cow elk at 375 yards, busted out both shoulders and exited. If it will do that why should I ask for more.
