Sierra Heavy TMK 6MM Testing

tested out the 107 & 116. 20” factory tikka 1:8. My goal is to have impact velo of 1800 fps at 700. So I need a muzzle velo of either 2700 with 116 or 2775 with 107.

107 - just under the speeds desired with h4381sc & h4530. Staball 6.5 gets me there but has a pretty crappy es. Virgin lapua brass loaded to m+ mag.

42 - 4 shots 11es - average speed 2744
42.3 (book max) - 4 shots 97 es wtf?! - average speed 2778
42 - 4 shots 43 es -average speed 2799

116- couldn’t get the speed I wanted and doesn’t look like this gun likes the 116 anyways.

About 40 rounds on this barrel. Hope it speeds up a smidge with more shooting . Going to call it good, load up a bunch at 42.2 zero and send it long!

What muzzle velocities were you getting with the H4350? My factory .243 tikka 20 inch 1-8” reaches 2925 with 108 eldm and H4350. Maybe 40 rounds down it. About .5 MOA.

ya i was bummed on the difference. going into this i though i would be close to 108 eldm speeds. book max is 37.5 for the 107 smk. sierra told me to use that data for the new tmk. i dont have my data with me but I think it hit pressure at 2740 (maybe a gn or so over box max) or so. I didnt do a ton of shooting but my initial impression is that i'm not overly impressed with the accuracy over staball 6.5.

Let me know what you think. I’m also shooting 105 hybrids currently.

There's been quite a few guys posting 41-41.5 for the 107 TMK in their Tikka 243's without any pressure issues. I have some loaded up with 41gr H4350 at 2.88" that I'm going to shoot soon in my 20" and 22" Tikka's. Sierra shows 40.5 for 6CM at 2.80. I also just ordered some 116's yesterday that I will try too. I need to try those in my 24" 6CM.

Slow for both. 2,700fps for the 107gr, and almost 2,600fps for the 116gr. Both were just middle of the upper half of book loads.

Have you tested this tikka with the upper end charges of H4350 and the 107, 116s?
41.5-43 grains?

What’s the velocity here at 41 grns?

What exactly are looking for? I loaded 116’s and got 2800 fps in a 6 creed 18 inch 1/7.5 with 40.0 H4350. It shoots very well. I’m with Form, just keep it simple. My impact velocity is not a concern at the distances I’ll shoot animals. I’ve only fired 15 rds and load development is done.

Just an FYI, I’m getting 2760 from a 16” barrel with the 107’s with 41.5gr of 4350. I was getting around 2800 with 42gr and 108’s. Tikka .243

I also ended up finding a bullet while cutting up the bear. Pretty sure it’s the offside shoulder.

Retained 80gr and mushroomed nicely roughly 2200fps. A little over 400 yards.
