Sierra Heavy TMK 6MM Testing

Ok cool. I’d be doing it at 6 arc velocities.
Funny you say that. I’m so torn on staying with 6 Creed/243 or switching to either 6 ARC or 6 GT. 20” barrel Tikka. I’d prefer to shoot something with lighter recoil to allow me to stay in the scope better. 243 has been snappier than I expected.

Anyone have experience with the relative recoil between the ARC and GT?

GT would be easier cause I can just rebarrel my Tikka. ARC has more factory ammo and less recoil. Can you easily spot shots with the GT in a light hunting rifle? I’ve never shot the ARC or GT

Anybody ran the 6mm 107 tmk through a 1:8 twist? Stabile or issues?
They have been fine for me thus far. 6 arc 1:8 twist 21” barrel. Unsure on velocity with the load, but I would say 2800fps or faster. 1200-2800 ft elevation. I would have to look back in my notes to tell you pressure and humidity.

I haven’t shot the arc in a comparable rifle to a GT, but I have shot my 6BR in a comparable rifle to a friends 6GT. 6 arc is functionally identical in recoil, powder, and velocity to the BR, so I believe this is fairly analogous. In this particular case, the BR and the GT were so functionally close. Between them though, I’d pick the arc for factory ammo availability and support.

The 243 with a 107 and h1000 is definitely snappy! I was surprised aswell, but still fun to be pushing the 107 at 2950ish fps with a 20” barrel.

These bullets just don't seem to be picky.

Shot 4x 10 shot groups today with a Seekins 6 Creed PH2, with around 1400 rounds on it. All three bullets, plus one got a second group which was seated deeper.

Individual groups were between .6's and .8's (MOA). All 40 rounds laid overtop each other were right at one MOA.

Next I did 6 groups with my Dasher, all three bullets at two seating depths. This is the barrel from my No Clean Dasher Test, you can look up how it typically shoots Berger 109's.

The groups ranged from .4's to .7's (MOA). All 60 rounds together were right at .9 MOA.

Finally I did three more groups with the Tikka, jumping further this time.

These were fine, although the one impact to the right on the middle group did make it the worst of the whole test. .9's, 1.4's, and 1.0's for those three.

This aggregate is less impressive, but it's still ~ 1.6 for 60 rounds over three bullets, two charge weights, two seating depths, and two days.

Had a fantastic day for testing here, was in a t-shirt most of the time.

is this 1:8 243 tikka group using a 116 or the 107? wondering if the 116 will stabilize out of a 1:8 tikka 243

I've been shooting 107smk in a 10# 6arc 2750mv, shot some the 107tmk from equal weight 6gt this morning moving 2800-2900. The arc is in a manners, the gt in a McMillan Mtn Tracker LR (rokstok like ergos). The gt stayed on target better than the arc. The gt is 21in 7.5tw, and likes the tmk at 2830 and 2920. The brass looked good, primers are lil flat but zero lift or ejector marks. 2920 with 35gr powder in a 21in barrel is a lot of bang for your buck. I'll test some my 116s in the same barrel once the heavier tmk arrive. I have a feeling they'll run in that low 2800 range.
