Sierra Heavy TMK 6MM Testing

This made my pants move just a little bit. That big of a wound channel with legit pass through ability is exactly what I've been after. If the 88s perform the same, I will be impressed and building out a 22cm instantly.

What sort of neck length are we talking about here on average before the wild disruption starts?

Less than an inch.

Any chance somebody could run one of these heavy TMK through ballistic gel and post the pictures?

Maybe even put one side by side with a pre 2026 TMK or ELDX?

What 6mm would you choose to shoot food with?

I generally wouldn’t use a 6mm. But if I did, the 95gr NBT, 105gr Hornady HPBT both are good. Good wounds, but not horrific.

I choose 223 for food, and most other things- 62gr Federal Fusion/Speer Gold Dot works well there.

On deer, would the DTAC NR be a good option for not too much destruction, or does it go too far the other way in being a little too tough?

Sometimes it’s good. But, when it yaws, it makes a mess of the offside too.

Thanks.

103 ELD-X are closer to the TMK in terms of wound channel?

Thanks for the info. I guess right now, the 147 grain eldm is the bees knees in 6.5 PRC?

Not for me. The 147gr ELD-M (all ELD-M’s at times) have a tendency every once in a while to produce narrow wounds from the bullet not upsetting fully. For 6.5mm, of what’s on the aren’t I use 130gr TMK- it also makes a mess.

The Berger 108 EH did great on an elk, but again almost TOO MUCH wounding and meat loss near entry. A Berger 105 Hybrid with a slightly thicker jacket might be a good option, but I've never shot or seen any animals shot with it.
