Sierra GK Elk Load

Does anyone have a good load to start tinkering with for elk using the 145 TGK? I am curious what sort of velocity’s people are getting out of a 20” 6.5 prc

My dad shot an elk a couple years ago with a .264WM and some 140TGKs I'd loaded for him. They were mild - MV of maybe 2925' IIRC - and he shot a bull at ~280 yards, bullet in both lungs, elk went a few yards and piled up.

Everything I've read about them - which is consistent with that one example - is that they are fairly tough bullets and expand best at higher speeds. Maybe not an ideal projectile for really longer ranges.

I loaded the 145 TGK in my Seekins. I was running n565 and had 2930-2980fps in a 24" barrel. Never killed anything with them but did kill a couple deer with the 140 TGK at 2970fps and it left big holes and easy to follow bloodtrails.

I've got 30 left in a box of 145 TGK's if you want em.

I am not set on any bullet yet but if I settle on the 145s I will let you know

62.4 gr of Magnum gives me 2905fps in a 22" barrel. Pretty accurate too.
