Show your Tikka ten round groups

Here is three 10 round groups with a different lot of 147 ELDm at 400.

The high ones were dialed 2.3 mils, so definitely faster than the last lot. The low ones were dialed at 2.0 mils. The just right ones were dialed at 2.1 mils, which works out to 2675 FPS muzzle velo. Still kind of slow, but maybe that's just the barrel. Also adjusted 0.1 mils left.

That’s rough. You need to reload.

I was disappointed when I had seen the number, but it ultimately it made me realize a creedmoor is better for me than a prc.

There are few people that the Creedmoor isn’t better for.

This is just Hornady factory ammo nonsense. Sucks that they are so inconsistent considering how good their match ammo was a few years ago.

Any recent experience with the variety of hornady 6 creed factory offerings? Wondering if it’s lot to lot consistency is going down the toilet too (while the price steadily climbs I might add…)

It’s quite possible that it’s the ammo. This was from an 18 in tikka 6.5 prc. Shooting factory precision hunter. It shot great but made me wonder why I didn’t have a 6.5 cm.
I agree, it was disappointing shooting my 17" 6.5prc the other day, shooting factory 143ELDXs averaged 2605fps. I put it back in the truck and continued to shoot my 22CM, and my disappointment went away.

I believe that’s what he is referring to is the lot to lot consistency. The the last lot of Hornady 147s that I bought was loaded too hot for my rifle. I didn’t have a chronograph but I’d bet that it was significantly higher than what I posted above.

Recent 6 creed ELDM and ELDX factory offerings since early spring have been shooting well in several different tikka and solus barrels I’ve shot.

I do tend to buy in very large, same lot number volumes though.

Yes sir, lot to lot variation has hit the 6CM as well. This summer we had two lots back to back in classes- one was right at or sub 1 MOA for average ten round groups out of 2 different rifles; the next lot# the next week was closer to, or even over 2moa and I want to say 80fps MV different.

Most 6cm shoots well, but there is definitely variation now with Hornady.

Frustrating to hear but not surprising. Seems I’ll never escape the monotony of having to reload 😩

Yeah, I was very excited about the PRC, but I really don’t think that they deliver the goods.
The guns, 2 Sauers and 3 Tikkas owned by me and a mate are about 175 fps ahead of the CM/260

I shot a lot of different factory ammo through my 6 creed, and the berger ammo was by far the most consistent. The hornady ammo was the worst out of everything I've tried.

Interesting! I suppose since I'm out of that lot of ammo anyway, I need to go back and try my other lot. Going to need to buy a couple cases so I don't have to play this game.
I was at the range about 2 months ago and made friends with some guys, one of which was shooting Hornady Precision Hunter (ELD-X) in 6.5 PRC. He asked if he could use my Garmin because he's never chrono'd his gun. He thought my Garmin was wrong because it read 150 fps below box (he had a 24" barrel). The dude next to me also had a Garmin and offered his up to compare - both chorno's read within 0.5fps of eachother and said the same thing - 150 fps below box.

So he opened a different box (same lot #), shot 3 - all almost exactly at box speeds this time. ES on both boxes was pretty low IIRC (maybe ~50fps), but the variation between boxes was mind boggling.

Are you positive it was lot # and not just product SKU? I've been unsure about that in past without digging a bit.
