Cooper m92 backcountry left hand in 7mm rem mag. Still deciding on the scope. As stated above, currently wears a leupold VX5HD 3-15. This will go with me on my scheduled goat and sheep hunts.

I used to think so too, I had 2 of them at one point. I found it pretty tough to see the center of the reticle in all but the best light so I eventually moved on from them. Personally, I’d prefer an SWFA 3-9 with a zero stop or that vortex razor LHT if I was searching for the perfect mountain rifle scope.

What objective did you have? The 24 or 42?

Interesting - I’ll watch for that. I have a few of them and haven’t noticed that issue.

Could be my eyes but I don’t have the problem with other scopes. With my NXS id lose the center part in rocks and timber, I’d almost have to guess where the crosshairs were.

I've got a Kimber Montana in 338 Federal topped with a 3X Leupold.......a sweet rig to carry and great on bears.

I bet man. I really like my kimber MA. If you ever think about selling that montana let me know.

Was surprised not to see any other Hells Canyon’s (or maybe I missed them). After winning a sheep hunt I started out on this builder. A Browning hells canyon long range chambered in .300 wsm. Put a Leupold 6Hd 3-18x44 cds on top. Had unknown ammunition build me a load development kit and found a round the gun absolutely loves.
Heres hoping she will help me get out of the <1 club this year when I head down to Sonora.

Freedom Arms 454 Casull, 4X Leupold, 240gr Hornady XTP Mag over a case full of H110 for 1900fps mv. One shot in front of shoulder, 71yds, caught some lung, bullet stuck under far side hide perfect mushroom. Did not hit shoulder or rib bones, angling toward me, up hill. The Ram jumped straight up, spun and hit the ground. I thought I'd hit heart, or shoulders or spine the way he went down. This load anchored him like I had hoped it would. Amazing. Thank you Freedom Arms and Dick Casull (RIP) for a fabulous hunting cartridge and gun.

It’s the Kifaru Ma Duece. Best bag I have used. Loved it.

loaded up with magazine and bipod it is a little over 9 lbs. It’s not the lightest, but it is STABLE. I was able to watch the impact of the bullet on my ram.

I went from trying to be practical and gonna commit to carrying my cheap thompson creedmor to splurging after a bad week at work and bought 2 rifles for "sheep".. gf only knows about 1 lol.
Couldn't decide on caliber...I have a soft spot for 30 calibers

Bought a Christensen titanium ridgeline in 300 win

And the first gen Remington model 700 TI in 300 saum

Pics when they arrive, should be here next week. I haven't even committed to an outfitter

I was reluctant to post because it wouldn't shoot straight. Got it all figured out now, it will have to wait until next season though.

Would you spend the money on one of the lightweight weatherbys or go with a custom build? This will be an all around Alaskan rifle.

Neither.
If I was looking or the ultimate push feed sheep/mountain rifle, it would most definitely be a Barrett Fieldcraft. Otherwise, it would be a Kimber Adirondack or Mountain Ascent, and either way, it would be chambered in .308 or 7mm 08. Best ultra light, factory/mass produced rifles made IMO.

I would add Proof Elevation rifles in there as well. Not ultra light but light enough.

Thank you for the input! I’ll have to see if 3 bears or sportys has one of those Barrett’s to play with! As well as the Kimber.
