Dream set up right here! Everything! I need to build one of these! What kifaru bag are you running? What is your rifle weight?
It’s the Kifaru Ma Duece. Best bag I have used. Loved it.

loaded up with magazine and bipod it is a little over 9 lbs. It’s not the lightest, but it is STABLE. I was able to watch the impact of the bullet on my ram.

Freedom Arms 454 Casull, 4X Leupold, 240gr Hornady XTP Mag over a case full of H110 for 1900fps mv. One shot in front of shoulder, 71yds, caught some lung, bullet stuck under far side hide perfect mushroom. Did not hit shoulder or rib bones, angling toward me, up hill. The Ram jumped straight up, spun and hit the ground. I thought I'd hit heart, or shoulders or spine the way he went down. This load anchored him like I had hoped it would. Amazing. Thank you Freedom Arms and Dick Casull (RIP) for a fabulous hunting cartridge and gun.

I went from trying to be practical and gonna commit to carrying my cheap thompson creedmor to splurging after a bad week at work and bought 2 rifles for "sheep".. gf only knows about 1 lol.
Couldn't decide on caliber...I have a soft spot for 30 calibers

Bought a Christensen titanium ridgeline in 300 win

And the first gen Remington model 700 TI in 300 saum

Pics when they arrive, should be here next week. I haven't even committed to an outfitter

I was reluctant to post because it wouldn't shoot straight. Got it all figured out now, it will have to wait until next season though.

Would you spend the money on one of the lightweight weatherbys or go with a custom build? This will be an all around Alaskan rifle.

Neither.
If I was looking or the ultimate push feed sheep/mountain rifle, it would most definitely be a Barrett Fieldcraft. Otherwise, it would be a Kimber Adirondack or Mountain Ascent, and either way, it would be chambered in .308 or 7mm 08. Best ultra light, factory/mass produced rifles made IMO.

I would add Proof Elevation rifles in there as well. Not ultra light but light enough.

Thank you for the input! I’ll have to see if 3 bears or sportys has one of those Barrett’s to play with! As well as the Kimber.

Unfortunately you will not find a Barrett Fieldcraft in any store, as they ceased production a while back. They are like Unicorn's now. They'll pop up on the Gun Classifieds on here every so often, and if they are in a desirable caliber, they go fast. They used to sell for around $1600 new, whereas they often go for $2k plus now. Still worth it though. Just not as much as a bargain as they were a couple years ago.

Yea after I posted that I was doing some research and saw that they killed it. I did read they were hoping to start producing them again and can’t find anywhere that they actually have started up again. We’ll see what happens as I’m in no rush which is why I was considering the custom route. But I fondled a sub 5lb weatherby at 3 bears the other day and it got my wheels turning. A while back I picked up an old rem 700 in 300 win thinking about starting a build but I’ll probably just end up dumping it and going a different route.

I saw a Barrett fieldcraft in 6.5 CM at Sportsman Warehouse in Reno a couple weeks ago.
