Should I worry about grizzlies?

Night watch? Nah man, you just go to sleep. We dont even sleep in a tent a lot of the time.

Hunting alone is just not a good idea in areas as wild as where the OP is talking about.

You’re a better man than I am, Gunga Din ! No way I’d be able to sleep, certainly not out the open.

I used to be terrified of bears too. Then I moved here and spent a ton of time around them, and then you realize a lot of people are putting way to much energy into something that is blown way out of proportion.

I’ll take your word for that, my friend……from a safe distance!

We stopped getting type 9 tags out there after seeing 7 griz in one day 2 years ago. Not worth the hassle.

We used to deer hunt over in sunlight, down from cooke city. They were everywhere, and that was like 6 years ago. Signs in the gates warning you they released a problem bear here. After a couple close encounters we skidaddled to other areas. Sure is nice country though, just need to keep a good eye out, and never try to be to sneaky 😉

I had a brand new Montana Canvas tent destroyed one morning while we were out moose hunting. Up here in NW Alberta the bears are pretty thick. Ever since my first tent was destroyed I’ve been putting up 3 strands of electric wire around it. A guy sleeps better at night as well. .
