Well I just bought a new pair of Razor 10x42 about a week before they announced the Fury hd's. I'm debating about selling the Razors to buy the Furys. Just looking to consolidate gear on the mountain. There is basically no weight savings and the Razors+Ranger is about the same weight as the Furys.

What would you do?

Hearing great things about the new Nikon range finder binos. The Vortex not so much.

Well thanks. Was pretty dead set on the Furys but sounds like might not be the way to go.

I'm not saying the Furys won't work. I just think anyone planning on buying a pair of mid-cost rangefinding binoculars should at least look through them. I would also compare them with the new Nikons side by side so you can decide which is best for you.

It is impossible to make definite conclusions based on trade show samples. Many times the demos are prototypes or pre-release versions. Sometimes this means they look worse than the production model, sometimes better.

I wouldn't write off the Fury or anoint the LaserForce until they are available as production models for field use.

I agree with everyone above. I tend not to give my opinion on optics when I personally haven't looked through them extensively. But I've looked through enough rangefinding binos to know that the display typically lowers the optical quality of a bino marginally. If that is viper glass on the fury then expect it to be slightly less quality then your normal hd vipers.

Another thing to consider is you're paying $1200 for a $499 pair of vipers with a $400 rangefinder attatched. If you sell your razors for $900 you're still out $300 essentially. Why not keep the razors and spend that $300 on a sig 2000 for $329 which in my opinion is a much better rangefinder. I know it defeats the purpose of an all in one but I really don't think it's worth the loss in all around quality you could have. Just my .02

Thanks for the advice. I should of mentioned i also have a new ranger 1000 and considered selling it and razors to buy the furys but after this thread i am thinking im going to keep what i got.

I'd bet you could find something else in your stack of gear to declutter or lighten. Seems to never end.

And me personally, I like keeping my binos separate from my rangefinder. I've had the same pair of Leicas for over 20 years, but I seem to go through rangefinders...dropping, driving over with my truck, they just short out...maybe just bad rangefinder luck, but I made the switch to the Vortex Rangers for the sake of the warrantee because of the simple fact that I've gone through so many of them.
