Yeah, I found Ive been sitting in 12” deep mud with 4” of water on top much of the time, and found it annoyingly hard not to give my gun a good slathering at least once a trip. I broke down and bought a anib 3901 for $500 a year or so ago. I dont prefer it, but its perfect for mucking around in a marsh.

If decent-handling O/U ‘s came in stainless with plastic stocks, I’d use one for waterfowl hunting too.

Ruger made a Red Label All Weather for a while. Light and points easy. 3-inch.

I use an old 870 when might need an extra paddle.

Browning still makes one, but it swings like a fence post for me.

If you ceracoated one and lacquered the stock it’d be plenty durable.

You have me curious here. What makes you choose a side by side for hunting and an over under for target?

I see online tons of people like side by sides. I never see them here. All the gun stores have over unders, all the trap shooters, all the people hunting with doubles i see are over unders here.

Because he has personality, and its cool and nostalgic...

Once we get past a gun that fits well (most important thing), and functions reliably, and your skill reaches a certain ability.

The users choice is entirely artistic opinion and has little affect on bagging birds.

Good call on the ceracoating.

That's a good option to keep something looking pretty.

If you put a think layer of varnish or lacquer on the stock I think some of the water issues could be resolved. Although I hunted for years with a wood stocked 870 that literally had no finish by the end but never noticed any issues.

Benelli Super Black Eagle. Everything from clays to turkeys and geese. Sure it’s expensive, but it’s cheaper than a duck gun, a clay gun, a goose gun and a slug gun put together! It runs 2 3/4” birdshot like a sewing machine and can run 3.5” magnum turkey loads. Adjust choke as necessary.

I LOVE my O/U, however, I took it dove hunting once and i really missed that 3rd shell. So back to my Ithaca M37 unless im shooting clays.
