TL;DR - anyone know of a polymer long action AICS mags in the 3.715 format (ie: NOT CIP) that has feed lips that will feed short action cartridges reasonably? (Magpul's will not work)
The TL part: I have a long action Remington 700 that I have in a OEM SPS stock with Magpul bottom metal + AICS magazine. I was entertaining the idea of stepping down to a short action cartridge (6.5CM or 7mm-08), but a quick feeding test shows it won't feed reasonably with the Magpul long action AICS mag (30-06 variant), because the feed lips are overly short/release the cartridge too soon and the tip wants to hang up on the breech face. Long action cartridges (3.3 or more) are fine, because by the time the feed lips release, the tip of the bullet is already past the breech face.
Feeding short action carts out of a BDL/ADL mag works fine, because the OEM Remington feed-rails are substantially longer, and keep the short action round from popping up before the tip gets into the chamber.
And, yes, I'm aware of the metal mags designed for this, but my interest in a mag that weighs twice as much and will stop working if I ever dent/bend the feed lips is pretty low, TBH.
Assuming I don't want to convert this rifle back to ADL, does anyone know of one of the polymer/lightweight AICS magazines in 3.715 length format that has longer feed lips that would work for what I want to do?
Thanks,
Edit to add - if the feed lips extended to where i have the red line drawn, it would be fine.
