Shop/Garage Gear Storage

Recently moved and now have a little detached shop/garage in front of the house that I can store all my hunting and fishing gear. Also planning to do a small garage gym on one side to cancel the memberships. Would love to see some photos from others of how you set up your tinkering areas for bows/guns, camo, gear, etc. very excited to have my own space for the hobbies and want to set it up right the first time!

I built a couple big “cupboards” from OSB. 8’ tall, 4’ wide and 24-30” deep. One has shelves on top and a clothes bar on the bottom and one has a big shelf with big heavy duty drawers underneath for clothes. Both have doors on the front to keep dust out since the garage is also for cars, woodworking, welding, etc. Added fishing rod storage to one as well.

i like the addition for the fishing rods. I completely forgot about what to do with those I’ve been so focused on the hunting gear.

Mine started out neat, but now it is a catch all. My bad. Now it seems when I clean I just move my stuff from one spot to the next. Otherwise look online you can get some outstanding cabinets and stoage shelves for cheap.

Make sure you throw down some rat poison in the corner on that thing. Would be the worst if mice or rats got in there and started chewing through your gear

No pictures, but a local supply store had a good sale on different sized heavy duty storage bins. They have been great to help organize my gear. Im sure it will change and theres better ways of doing it, but currently mines organized by early, mid, and late season clothes. Like previously stated, doesnt hurt to throw out some mouse traps to avoid them making a nest out of a $300 jacket.

I have a couple of these.

Took me about 2 hours to put the 1st together, but once I knew what I was doing, the 2nd took about 45 minutes. I'm debating on a 3rd.

For fishing rods I used a few old cedar deck spindles. Imagine an upside down T screwed to the ceiling. The "leg" section is about a 4" piece and then screwed to a 42" spindle. Probably holds 10 rods each.

I’ll update with a photo of what I currently have going on once back from hunting. Struggling with a corner that I currently have two storage racks going to. Not so aesthetically pleasing. Thanks for all the great ideas.

Simple and fairly cheap. Just measured totes and such and made the spacing to fit my stuff.

I'm at work - don't have pictures with me - but buying clear bins (costco business has the large ones in clear or smaller ones at most big hardware stores) goes a long way for finding what you're looking for when packing for a day hike or a long hunt. I label and organize my bins, but can still see into the bins for a quick reminder or to see if the exact item I'm looking for is in there. I've put these up on wire wall shelves as well as heavy duty metal storage floor shelves. Worked well both ways.

I also got a cheap metal 2-door locker for soft gun cases on one side and ammo organized on the shelf side. Wish I had done that years ago.

I use the remington weatherproof containers for my hunting clothes, add silica packs and backing soda (bought small plastic bowls with lids, cheap, punched holes in the lids, this is for clothing. I have the 27 gallon totes from HD for other stuff.

I built two huge racks with wheels for the bins. First area holds 20 bins, second area holds 16 (this one has 8 bins that are the remington weatherproof). The reason the other only holds 16, is that the remingtons don't have a lip, so I had to build flooring to hold those. The wife liked it so much, she took over a bunch of the bins, a bunch, for her christmas decorations. Now this, I didn't mind, it saves me from taking all the junk up into the attic, it's right there on ground level for me.

I can't take credit, I saw it somewhere, decided I could build that, so did. It sure tidies things up a lot. I used the wifes, peel and stick plus chalk pin from her labeling jars. This allows me to write on the outside to tell me what is in each bin.
