Shooting the Rokstok

Any advice on shooting the Rokstok? I'm struggling with rear bags. Just can't seem to get the rear solid. What's everyone using for rear support?

What is your shooting position? Are you properly controlling the rear of the gun with your off hand or are you trying to just rest it on something with no shooter input other than shoulder and face for the rear?

Literally anything can be a rear rest with the rokstok because of the flat bottom. The ground, a rock, a rear bag, bino harness, etc.

This sounds like you’re using way too stiff of a rear rest or maybe some kind of V shaped thing? It also sounds like you are not using your off hand to help build the rear rest. These are common, less than ideal, shooting habits.

The rear rest can be anything depending on the height of the foreend. The flat bottom is ideal for field shooting because anything can be the rear rest. It doesn’t need to ride in some stupid “v bag” in order to adjust height.

I shoot with a Jellyfish too, but I haven't seen one for sale in a while.

The wedge won’t work as well with a flat bottom stock. With a stiff back end, the adjustment needs to be made in the front rest off a bench. Look at benchrest set ups, they have flat bottom sticks to allow straight recoil.

There is a difference between what you are used to on the bench with the angled stock and what the Rockstock is designed for.

Off the bench go all benchrest if you want to shoot small groups and eliminate you as a variable.

If you want to shoot for hunting purposes, it’s the way shown above with our 2-5 Ultralight bag.

The thumb and finger cradle the stock and help control the rifle under recoil. The bag is more of a rest for the hand to fill space. That is why @mxgsfmdpx and other say you can use anything—it’s literally just to support the hand that supports the rifle.

Pint sized game changer is what i use most for rear bag range/match shooting. Really any manipulatable rear bag works.

Thanks. I should've been more specific. I'm looking for the lightest option possible, which I believe is the Cordura version of the regular Molinator (i.e., not the Heavy Molinator).

The heavy(+-12oz) is light and the regular is ultra light(+-7oz).

There is about 7oz +- difference in the Heavy vs your lswild rear bag.
