Shooting Sticks

Using the straps on the trekking poles works better. They deploy quicker, the rifle recoils straight back (instead of wanting to match the angle created by the space between the poles using the quick stix), and it’s much easier to adjust height.
The recoiling aspect is the one issue I have with the Wiser clip.
I do love them otherwise, especially when I glass. I just spread them (the sticks) and
lean them against me. Otherwise they are constantly falling on the ground, clattering.

No worries, and the rifle sits in the cradle of the foam handles, not the stick bodies. View attachment 902955

I should have said I don’t like to use them standing instead of I cannot use them standing. To use the poles for standing I have to bring the bottoms closer together and that makes it feel less stable to me but it’s still more stable than me shooting standing unsupported.

15 straight years of hunting coyotes from shooting sticks. I couldn’t afford anything but what ever I could make in wood shop at school. My favorites were just simple wood dowels with a sliced garden hose on top holding them together and creating the cradle.

Second favorite was 2 pieces of 1x3 with a bolt running through them to create the cradle.

I had a few different pairs both purchased and homemade using tent pole like structures to create the stick. Liked how compact they were but hated the slop and bendy legs.

I used the trekking pole strap method when I got older and learned about it. Now I own a quick stix.

It all works. They all get the same job done. I can have my quick stix deployed faster than I can dick around with straps. I can adjust the height of quick stix by widening the feet. Time will tell how the quick stix fair in nasty conditions and with prolonged usage.

The selling point for the quicksticks to me is if you’re going to use their third piece and use it as a tripod for glassing. Then you can eliminate a whole other piece of gear. If you’re just going to shoot off them I’d say looping the handles is better and cheaper.

I like them to clip the poles together for carrying in one hand easily.
