Anyone done it? From what I read the Sliks are 28mm diameter for the biggest tube and are 8 layers of carbon.

I'm hoping to try out shooting off of a tripod for a bit and the used market for 834s and similar is a lot more appealing to me than the RRS/Leofoto prices I'm seeing.

You can, will be just OK, but, the middle column and apex, and smaller legs will make it less stable than the type of tripods that are used for shooting.

How far would you shoot is the question, because inside 350 or maybe 400 yards the wobble will be acceptable.

You would want to get it as low as possible and not use the center column extended.

If I could get to 400 yards with it, it would work for my uses. Or at least get me started and able to decide if I want to invest more into a more stable tripod.

Any budget friendly ball heads are recommended? I’ve been looking at the aziak front country, but not many reviews on it yet. Also looked at the leofoto handle bar head mh-36 i think? The anvil is not really an option at the moment.

I love the MH and run it for glassing and shooting. You can see how well it holds the rifle even with the weight behind it. And, the friction adjustment is very solid for glassing.

My buddy picked up a nice Slik, not sure the model. We were out yesterday and today.
