If you keep more sand in the bag and lay the rifle on the long axis you'll get much more stability..I’m no sniper but I have used this method with good success. I always chuckle to myself when I see guys packing around several different bags at hunter matches. I pack a used sand filled schmedium that is a little over half filled. It is heavy but works for everything I need at matches, out at the range or shooting varmints etc. I have thought about getting the next size up once this one is no longer usable but that may be a while yet. You'll see guys with a bigger bag for those stages where a schmedium size doesn't get enough mag or bipod clearance.
I've run into that problem on quite a few props, especially when shooting at steep angles.
