Looks like venison to me. Qualified with, I don't hunt Mule Deer with any seriousness, they are a tag I pick up on left overs, for a freezer filling out and back hunt from my house, and if I took an elk in the last 2 years, I don't bother hunting. I don't hunt them with a bow, and don't like the way they taste. So, if you are hunting horns, nope, but for meat, sure. With a rifle, in a unit I know holds better, nope. I also live in a spot with unlimited PLO tags, and could shoot does from my porch with a bow all day long, but don't bother.

In Montana with a bow ..... probably a yes. In Colorado after the long drive... probably a No, but I'm having a hard time getting a real good feel for him in the video. He's tall with pretty good back forks but narrow. I'm with 5miles, mule deer is low on my list of wild game meat (at least Eastern MT mule deer) so not looking to fill the freezer.

I'm not a big fan of mule deer meat and he's too small for a mount.....so no.
Have you had a bad experience with a deer or two or tried and true, just don’t like it?

I have a hard time telling the difference in the blind taste tests I’ve done with my wife. Especially ground meat.

Early season mule deer meat is great. I would say that buck is a nice young deer and I would be happy to put my tag on him. Obviously there are bigger bucks around but I'm an opportunist.

One year I killed a late rifle cow and a buck muley early in archery. Everyone that ate both preferred the deer.

I can't imagine being able to tell which was what when it's ground, especially covered in taco seasoning.
