I can verify, definitely no deer here lolHard winter. So much snow. Heard they all died off.
I thought you were in NZ, if so big effortSo it looks like we have 6 does that further the cause?
I'm in Alaska in August chasing Caribou starting the 14th. Tim8ng couldn't suit me better.I thought you were in NZ, if so big effort![]()
I think there is a chance. @Formidilosus?Not to dig up an old thread. But is there any chance of this happening in 2026?? 25 being a bust. I would be down. For those “in the know”.
Same!I have never been to Alaska, but would like to go. I'd go from a 50% interested to a 80% interested if there were something I could hunt before/after. I don't know enough about locations in AK or the tag system to have a clue if that is feasible.
If anyone has knowledge and willingness to send a PM, that might get another person (me) in the mix.
Over the counter black bear is probably the cheapest and easiest tag to get. As a resident I can kill 5 for free. And many zones are open all summer. I would call AK fish and game and ask if that is also the case for non resident tags. I think they run 350 bucks.Same!

That is true! Can be a pretty tough hunt without bait and before they’re up in the berries though. At least in the areas I spend time in the summer.
