Nothing like "learning" how to shoot long range by looking at a computer screen

Believe it or not, there is a lot of theory and knowledge that goes into consistently hitting small things at long distances.

I'd love to have an online to go through before going to the actual school next year!
As a noob there's a lot of little things you can learn without being on the range.

In all honesty I think the online class would be far more valuable as a "refresher" AFTER having taken the in person. No online training can come close to replicating reps, on the spot coaching of things you don't even realise you're doing, time and stress, and so on. The process of the class would not transfer well and to be honest most people would "skip" parts that are integral to the process. For example when some of the unsupported positional shooting evolutions come up, pretty much EVERYONE would try it for 30 seconds and say F this shit and move on!! Thus you can not build a structure on a foundation that has missing parts.

That said the Safety Rules and Process rules could easily be taught virtually and absorbed to an extent.

That is fine, I don't think anyone has the expectation that this will be a direct replacement for the actual class or that the course would provide as much value to the individual as the actual course. I don't assume what the intention was but I don't think that was their intention by starting the process of an online course.
However, it is an avenue for individuals who, for any number of reasons, can't make it to the class but who can take an online course and shoot on their own time.
I see value in having both as an option. If it no longer becomes an option, that is fine, I'll keep doing what I'm doing.

What does hunting have to do with not shooting? Among all the issues, you want the continuation of hunters missing and wounding animals because they can’t shoot competently?

Nope. Learn to hunt (which can’t happen in a classroom, online or otherwise) first and shoot second. Then everything naturally falls into place. Get that backwards because someone took an online class and thinks they’re a long range operator, and bullets get sprayed everywhere .

I think they can run congruently. I've helped some really good hunters track 3-legged animals because they took a shot in the moment that they weren't prepared for. I also agree learning to hunt doesn't happen in the classroom, but maybe a portion of learning to shoot can.

What? So you have people hunting with a rifle, before they have learned to handle and shoot rifles?

Any online content that could be managed would be outstanding. Cliff Gray's review of the course put some emphasis on not giving away any spoilers, as there seems to be an important progression of reveal and instruction. So if the whole thing couldn't/shouldn't be done via online, maybe there would be a way to segment it? Say, some core skills videos, drills, and measurable shooting tests, or an online prep course to get people up to speed before they show up in person?

A person can learn a ton about hunting in a classroom and by reading. That will only take you so far, but it's quite a ways down the path.

Both are important. Hunting, woodmanship has to be learned in the field. But an awful lot of guys have that part down and fall to pieces when it’s time to shoot. It’s not an either/or deal. I know a rancher who is a stone cold killer. Can hit stuff consistently kneeling at distances most guys have to get prone or on a bipod. Pretty sure ho doesn’t even own either of those things. I asked him one time how he got so good and he just said “ I shoot a lot of coyotes.”

and an awful lot of guys think they’re Rambo and have zero clue how to hunt because to them “hunting” is just shooting at live animals at long distances. Because, “I’m good bruh, I took a class”.

Didn’t most of us grow up in the woods with BB guns and slingshots and makeshift bows as soon as we could walk? I learned to hunt and shoot stuff long before I knew what a milrad was.
