I’m in the process of getting my animals back from South Africa. The dimensions of my crate that is holding my skulls and hides came out to 45x30x23 inches with a volumetric weight of 189 pounds. The uninsured price came out to $830 having it flown into Chicago. Shipping via barge was cheaper, but it docked in Texas and has to be shipped to Michigan where the tannery my taxidermist uses is located and that added more $$$. It essentially was a wash between the two after you add up all of the shipping and port/inspection/storage fees, so I chose to have it flown in. I would recommend calling a broker like D&L Custom House Brokers and they may be able to give you rough figures on things like that. I see it being hard to really give much of an accurate quote on that because there is no actual weight/dimension to go off of though.
That doesn’t sound too bad. I just wanted some what if an idea because most post I’ve found online are from guys getting multiple shoulder mounts shipped and it being thousands of dollars so your post makes it sound like a couple of euro mounts should be at least some what reasonable.
I had about $3,000 total in getting my mounts back in 2019. Between shipping, clearing, and shipping again. I used a clearing agent, that definitely helped so I didn't have to drive to Chicago to clear it myself.
