First off I'm a novice backcountry hunter , I've been on one hunt in 2019. I used a six moon skyscape trekker it worked but my feet hit the canopy and when it rained that was a problem. I need a tad more room. I've been looking at seek outside shelters. I'd like to buy American made. Are there brands I'm missing that are American made?
Second if you go without a bathtub floor do most people use a ground sheet to protect their sleeping pad or just bring plenty if tenacious tape?

I use a Thermarest Xtherm because of how thick the bottom is, so I don't always use a ground sheet.

Seek Outside is a great company, I own three of their shelters and one pack. That said, Kifaru, Tarp Tent, and others produce good, US made, shelters. There are several other companies, but I don't remember them off the top of my head.

Use a ground sheet. Easy, lightweight and cheap.

Now that I feel fooled, even though my recommendation would be Seek Outside, other companies that make shelters in the USA; Z-packs, Mountain Laurel Designs.

Hyperlite Mountain Gear looks to be moving manufacturing to Mexico, so another one that is no longer USA made. I give up.

If you want light, the SO Silex is hard to beat (too bad they don't make it in Dyneema any longer, I own a Dyneema Silex). I would take a Cimaron Light over a Silvertip if I wanted more room than the Silex (I own a Silvertip, my hunting partner owns a Cimaron Light). If using your trekking poles for the center, the Cimaron Light is only 7 ounces more than the Silvertip with a whole lot more room.

The Silex can be a little tight and my feet usually end up against the sides, so it does not sound like a fix to your problem.

Does anybody have any experience with the Seek Outside Eolus? Seems like it would fit in the weight range I'm looking for and have plenty of room for me and gear. My only concern is that I am over compensating and at 12' x 8' it may be tricking finding a place to get it pitched.

I run the Eolus I like the set up. I have never really had a problem with the set up
