Aziak has been absolutely fantastic. I use a Tricer lightweight panhead and it has worked fantastic for binos and spotters up to 65mm.

I just got an AZIAK tripod and ball head.......amazing! The tripod folds quite compact and the ball head is smooooth.

While not purposely designed for shooting off, I've had good luck w/ the tripod alone for 300-ish yard shots; if you "built" a solid rear rest (pack) cable of longer

hard to see in the picture but it was on a side hill. I was shooting up hill and the bipod wasn’t long enough. I was curious to see if it would rattle loose when I shot, it didn’t.

I've had an Aziak backcountry lite for about 2 years now, paired with Tricer LP pan head, and have been very impressed with it for glassing given its weight. Supports my Kowa 77 without issue. Packs compact and weight is amazing. Used it on two hunts. Removeable center column a nice feature as well.

However when I did finally shoot off it using the tricer LP, in prone, elevated prone, and kneeling, the wobble zone was noticeable and it is not as stable as I would prefer. Supports my 8# rifle with no issues, but the movement on target makes it hard to take an ethical shot past 200 yds in my opinion. As I think of a tripod as part of my shooting set up now, it had me considering other options.

This season I pulled out the credit card and bought a RRS Ascend 14 and have been very happy with it. Stability of the larger diameter legs is much greater, and I prefer the larger twist locks for quick adjust and using gloves. It is decently heavier than the Aziak set up (have reduced weight a bit by dropping leg sections and the center column, idea courtesy of B_Reynolds) , but if I need to take a tripod assisted shot I have no concerns about it introducing another source of error. I'm always going to bring a tripod, and now I can ditch a bipod or any other shooting support and its about even on weight.

I will still keep the aziak for scouting only trips.

So I decided to go with the Aziak backcountry light and their head. Got it on Black Friday so I got a decent deal. I went with their head as well. I asking Santa for the Kowa 66 for Christmas so we’ll see if Iv’e been a good boy.
