I did a full body mount on my Stone's Sheep. I am going on a Dall sheep hunt in July to NWT. I had planned on doing a full body until a friend of mine let told me to come over and see his full body mounts. I said sure, wait, they are not at his house but at his daughter-in-laws shoe store. "yes, that is my point" he said. He says that when you are young you live in a big house but in your 70s you downsize and often don't have room for your most cherished mounts in your home because there isn't room. He says do shoulder mounts because you are much more likely to take them with you when you are in the golden years. Thoughts?

Of all mine, I like the pedestal mount, it has the most versatility of all my mounts. The one on the wall has a base and cover so it can be displayed on any flat surface.

My Stone is life-size also. A shoulder mount of a dark Stone is almost a crying shame as you would lose the beauty of the animal. I did not life-size my Dall as I became quickly concerned about the room factor and don't regret it. I still figure that I will end up with a small herd of life-sized mounts before I am done and finding a place to put them all and the cost of the mounts becomes an issue. Certain animals just don't look good as a shoulder mount IMO.

If that's the case all I can say is my hunting partner is screwed, lol. :) I'd say if you really want the full mount then do it. Life is too short and I've been to too many funerals for guys I've worked with who never got to enjoy retirement. I say go for the full mount if that's what you really want.

Pretty sure I followed all of those sheep hunts via your internet writing Sir....thanx for all of those write ups. Nice to see them all in one pic!!!!

I agree 100% with this. Who knows where you will be in your 70's. Enjoy the memories and appreciate the full body mount so the sheep "lives" forever.

There is nothing more impressive in a trophy room than a full mount sheep. If you have the room to put it I would go full mount. Worry about where it will fit into the old folks home later.
