Shed Hunting Sub?

I'm honestly starting to feel like a lot of people don't like shed hunting because they're not good at it. Like a little kid not making the basketball team and muttering under his breath as he walks away, "basketball is stupid anyway".

Anyone finding elk sheds yet?

Wonder if the crazy mild weather and no snow will have them carrying longer?

I found that if guys can leave elk alone until april they pick up alot more sheds and its better for the elk. Unfortunately some guys cant help themselves.

From my observations, it depends on nutrition available when the majority of elk start dropping.

I’ve literally never looked for elk sheds intentionally, I may go glass a canyon from a distance to see how many bulls are in there.

I won’t harass anything but somebody surely will, I’d say I wish we had a shed season but it would be ignored, a neighboring state has one and I’ve been in there and found one deer shed hunting turkey, there are elk and deer everywhere you look and clearly guys have cleaned out the sheds already!

Shedding is based off the photoperiod, which triggers testosterone drop, which causes bucks/bulls to shed their antlers.
Epic snow or epic drought, individual bulls typically shed around the same week every year.

However…I’ve seen small bulls still holding in May, while bigger bulls had dropped in the beginning of march, which I found difficult to understand…but maybe they had low T to begin with:)
