It will be a fun ride. I have started a couple pups previously but honestly haven't kept it up. I bought a training kit with the first one with a soft antler and the scent stick. It seemed to work well especially after getting him started to retrieve the usual toys and such. I allowed him to chew on the antler chews you can purchase at about any pet store. I did wait until his teeth were harder before I allowed him to, which I think helped in keeping him interested. I also used a antler from a 3D archery target with a scent stick I bought off Amazon for the second and it seemed to work fine as well. I did the same with the antler chews.
They both were started pretty well but at the wrong time. I mean to say that when they were ready for the next step it wasn't the time when we would be hitting the woods or fields to find fresh ones. I just didn't have the time to keep it up so neither is what I would call a finished shed hunting dog. There are lots of videos and tips online, Dog Bone is one, but there are several others that will get you started. Just have fun with it and make sure to get them started to retrieve and chew on antlers first at least that helped me.
Good Luck
