I’d like to think the same, however these people can hunt anywhere in the world whenever they want. Hard to think they’ll care much about the guy humping hills looking for a forky.

Fair point I agree.

Could you elaborate ? To me it looks like DOGE is taking a sledgehammer to something that needs a scalpel. There’s a way to go about reviewing downsizing/restructuring. I’m not sure that firing everyone and then asking questions after is the right approach. Let alone to orgs supporting infrastructure, national security, financial services, etc.

Oh man this is hard to convey over txt. I mean, what’s so difficult to understand about being multi trillions in debt. We are nearly bankrupt, like we won’t exist much longer (as we know it) as a country if we don’t start cutting spending. Look at Twitter, he over paid for a company then lost a ton of money now it’s turning profit and working just fine with a fraction of the workforce. We are an obese society both literally and figuratively. We have worthless people overseeing worthless people that bring no value or meaning in both corporations and in government. Focus on the stuff like DEI departments and many more nonsense expensive endeavors. Under all previous administrations there was endless corruptions.

There’s never going to be a perfect president or administration. We will always fight bad ideas. Nothing new with this one, too much good to be mad about tho. Especially compared to the last admin and what could have been if we were unburdened. But doesn’t mean I won’t have my pitch fork out if they dare to sell one acre of USFS or BLM!

So, unless the Trump administration is watching this thread closely looking for people options, what's everyone doing to voice their options that they want public lands to stay public??
If your an American voter, your voice and option matters in all this.

Appreciate the response. Definitely have merit and good points. However one piece that I think that further pushes the point that this is just another side of the same coin once again. The budget bill that was just started to be pushed through over the weekend has a net negative for our deficit. The tax cuts are outweighing any cuts to the budget for more fuel for the US deficit.

Also guess where the tax cuts are going? Not to the middle class once again.

I’m emailing and calling my reps. Donating to conservation orgs.

Also posting memes on hunting forums.

The Oval Office used to watch this forum, but that department got cut unfortunately.

Kidding aside we all need to be vigilant when it comes to public lands and conservation efforts regardless of who’s in the White House.

I've been trying not to pay too much attention, so I admit I am ignorant...but with the massive changes so far, has the administration taken any notice of the voices of the people? Or is it a case of "we won, get over it"? If the latter, then we should expect to own a lot less federal land soon.

Regarding the budget bill I hadn’t heard of this yet. It would be very strange if they are purposely increasing the deficit. I need to look into that. So thanks for the info. Send me some resources if you can.

As for tax cuts, I’m willing to let this play out (not that I have a choice) for the middle class. I believe they want a thriving economy. Trump doesn’t care about anything but looking good to his base. Again, cautiously optimistic. I’m looking forward to the next 4 years only because it’s nothing this country has ever seen post WW2. The last guys that tried anything similar were assassinated. They tried to kill Trump twice, came so close. The American people have already forgot this, it’s pretty hilarious.

and... any Republicans who might dissent are forced into compliance by Musk who will replace them with "yes men" by simply outspending them on the campaign trail come the next election cycle.

Again, insanity that Musk has this much power.

It’s way more insane who had the power before hand, because other than Soros the public had no idea who has actually been running the country. The American people voted for Trumps circle of politicians and influencers, including musk. That’s democracy. What we’ve had for 100 years is a puppet propped up by corporations and corrupt NGOs. Enjoy the ride, it’s going to get a lot bumpier for the status quo.

Here is the full contact directory of all US House of Representatives.
Here's a the site for contact information for all Senators.
I would even email your state reps and voice your option there also, that's where a lot of this is coming from, and ask them to push the issue up the ladder too so on a federal level they're hearing about it from all sides.

Emails and phone calls matter, put a little context with it, and you didn't have to be a great writer, nor does it have to be long, just voice your option.

The best way to conserve our lands are to make the sustainer (fed gov) sustainable. We have kicked the can down the road long enough the time for incremental change was 20 years ago; now the sledgehammer is required.

Look at the fires, we can’t do a prescribed burn because someone saw an endangered species in a tree within 10 miles 20 years ago. Instead of small burns, we get massive ones. Yellowstone 1988 is another example.

I’ll never support selling off public conservation lands but we need the management structure to be rational and efficient.

What’s your point? Did you read the articles? Both of your links prove exactly what I said.

This forum is for hunting topics so I’ll stick to that. Public lands are under DOI and Randy is making his argument based on a person who isn’t part of the current administration. Second he claims they’re going to sell off public lands, I can’t find that even in the actual project 2025 proposal other than opinion commentary articles no different than what Randy is claiming.

I didn’t see anything in your project 2025 tracker that indicates public lands being sold, but I did see some things that are good for hunters.

Hard to watch him and feel like he is doing anything other than advocating for the status quo to feed his public land driven gravy train at best or at worst using the potential crisis for clicks.

Love our public land, dislike the pimps.

Understand this thought, but I think they have repeatedly said that their videos and content about conservation significantly under perform as compared to the hunt videos. If they wanted to maximize clicks as you say, they'd just create a compilation of kill shots and not talk about conservation.

My opinion given the things that I've seen him say is that he was not forthright about what is monetized and the degree to which he benefits. Were he more direct/open/candid/honest about his business model in the past, I'd be more receptive.

Worked for Elon for several years. Many times directly. Mixed opinions on him as a human being, but I can tell you that he is running his "algorithm" on the federal government. Step two of his algorithm is "Delete the Part or Process". A direct quote from him on this was "If you're not adding things back in at least 10% of the time, you're clearly not deleting enough".

He would push us to remove sensors, redundancy, turn up the power, etc. on engines until they literally exploded on the test stand. Once they blew up, we reviewed the data and determined what we should add back in. Or if we could add the functionality back in, in a simpler way.

I think his algorithm is a smart way to optimize an engineering design quickly, but he applies it to everything.

When he took over Twitter he was told it would take around 6 months for managers to come up with an accurate list of how to trim the fat of the company. He decided to fire approximately 50% of the workforce, almost immediately, using some quickly put together metrics. This way, he would know in a week who was actually needed and then just hire them (or their equivalents) back in. He did the same with SpaceX and Tesla during layoffs. I had colleagues who were laid off, given a nice severance packaged, only to be asked to come back a month later.

So he's definitely cutting stuff that's needed, he knows this... I'm sure we'll start seeing some people being offered their job back here shortly... It will definitely get worse before it gets better.

Sorry for the brief jump off topic, just figured it was pertinent. As for the original topic, we definitely need to stay on our toes during this time. Any loss of public lands is permanent and will never be worth whatever the perceived "savings" will be.

Exactly.

“The Algorithm”

Step 1 is: “Challenge the requirements,” Berry said. “Or as our benefactor used to say, ‘Your requirements are definitely dumb; you have to find a way to make them less dumb.’”
