I don't want to get too much into my personal needs and distract from the question but I'm looking for a pack for 7ish day hunts and a packraft/4 pc paddle. Alpacka Mule is the raft and will probably be strapped externally regardless, but requires some extra gear nonetheless.
Does Stone Glacier and Initial Ascent rate their bag sizes the same or is this like temperature ratings on sleeping bags??
Asking bc I saw an Initial Ascent 8k multiple times on YT and it looks the same size or possibly smaller than my Sky Archer 6400. Granted a TV screen isn't a fair comparison which is why I'm here. I looked at the description of the Sky Archer and it says "6,400 cubic inches of volume and 2,500 plus cubic inches of load shelf expansion". I'm not sure how to interpret this or why the two volumes are put together in the same sentence if the bag doesn't expand. I have put my food in an URsack on the loadshelf between the frame and bag which wasn't ideal but saved a ton of space in the bag.
I don't know much about packs and have been burned on sleeping bags due to misleading ratings. Won't repeat that again.
Thanks!
