SG 5900 or 6900

In your opinion which of these would be the more versatile of the two? I have a lot of experience with the 5900 over the years. I do a lot of day hunts, late season hunts and backpacking and it’s been great. I do hunt solo most times and I do like to get stuff in one or two trips unless it’s a big bull then usually it’s 3 to 4 if I’m lucky. But I pack a lot of meat in the bag as well as load shelf. When. My lady gun hunts with me I pack her stuff a lot of times too. The 5900 can get a bit tight during late season with clothing and meat and gear. I love the center zip and the space the 6900 would give. What are your thoughts if you just did a one and done bag for most things

5900 was about perfect for me for sub 4-5 day trips but when you start packing winter gear and water that space gets up quick. For me my 6400 was topped out to start on a recent 8 day Alaska trip so I bumped up to a 6900 and have no regrets. For hunting out of a camp in CO or 2-3 fly fishing tips I’ll use my 3600 and lid.

Sky Talus 6900 is now the only bag I own. It can compress up nice when you need it to.

It's mere ounces, always go bigger. You can cinch a large bag smaller but that small bag is going to always be small.

Went 6900 and absolutely love it. Center zip and those long side pockets are amazing. I use it for 9 day sheep hunts, everything fits and is easy to access.

Anyone know the circumference difference of the main bag between the 5900 and the 6900?
This use kills the folks at SG, but sometimes I carry 50lb sacks of grain or cubes and the 5900 is to tight.
For all my backpack and carrying full quarters, the 5900 does great, but there are times I wish the circumference was just a little bigger.
Is the 6900 a touch bigger/wider in the main bag specifically?
I absolutely love a U shape zipper and that front pocket for day stuff, but could force myself to like the side pockets, If the main bag is bigger.

It is. It's the right size if you put quarters or meat sacks in the bag. I use the meat shelf and the bag for hauling meat. The 5900 always worked well but some of the more recent bears and elk can be a tight squeeze. I picked up a 6900 the other day and was kind of second guessing myself even though I know it's the right choice.
