Seriously Norma, WTF were they thinking

They are very aggressive in their expansion, probably too much because it is an old design carried over from the days of the 6.5x55 and not suited so well to a modern high velocity round.
My biggest issue is that the bullet is so inefficient ballistically, we don’t buy PRCc to lob rocks

No idea of the bullet, 53.2 grains of powder that looks like 4350 but the color is a bit greyerIMG_4546.jpegIMG_4547.jpeg
They state a bc of .375 and boast that it is great for long range 😂
Listed velocity 2885

That is definitely not norma's premier hunting round. If I remember correctly, they're higher performance rounds are the bondstrike and tipstrike. For what it's worth though, that same ammo in 6.5 creed has stacked 10 shot groups into one hole in two of my rifles now.

It’s the only Norma stuff that I have come across, and it certainly is accurate.
Europeans often drive game and shoot at close range, BC is meaningless.
Yeah, I believe that the PRCs have become very popular for that😂

Their premium hunting load in 6.5 PRC.
This bullet was prolly designed in 1920View attachment 881958
😆 Looks looks like a Volvo.

It says whitetail on the box. You don’t exactly need a high performance bullet to drive a sxs 300yds to the edge of the field, walk 20yds to a heated apartment, set the rifle on a lead sled, shoot a whitetail at 100yds, then pose with the woods in the background wearing all Kuiu gear, get a pic of it in a kifaru pack, and post it on the internet with a long description of the 5 day backcountry hunt.😁

That appears to be the Vulcan bullet. I bet it will work perfectly in the typical 0-400yd scenario. If you shoot animals further than that regularly, then maybe a bondstrike or tip strike may be better for your application. I shoot one of the worst BC 6.5 bullets available because it works superbly on whitetail. The 130 HPBT game king has dropped everything from deer at spitting distance to antelope at 260yds leaving baseball sized holes in the offside ribs.

I'd think you should be good to 600 with such a bullet

Did OP not know what he was buying when he bought it????

It’s their cheap option, to compete with blue box federal and rem core lock, what do you expect. It’s fine out to 400

Buy their bond strike or tip strike if you want better,
Pretty simple

It was given to me by a generous friend when I said I couldn’t get any brass locally, the plan is 130 TMKs for hunting and 147 ELDMs for an informal mile shoot we do a few times a year

Norma whitetail is their competitor to everyone else’s Walmart deer loads. Federal blue box, Winchester power point etc.

Difference is it shoots better usually and the brass is better

A lot of stores have those on sale for suuuper cheap. Norma probably realized they aren’t flying off the shelves in high performance cartridges. Maybe the idea was for that elusive “1 gun for everything” hunter that I’ve yet to actually meet.

To beat on the horse a little bit this is their budget load if you want BC they offer tipped flavors as well.
Good way to get some practice and 1x fired brass from your chamber for reloading. Or of course will still get things killed at reasonable range no problem

600-500 would be fine, I shoot Speer 140's and have stacked up a few critters past 400 no problem. Last cow Elk at 403 bored a nice hole clean through the lungs and exited. Soft points have been around for a long time for a reason, they work. JMHO.
