Selway Set Up Help

Just bought a used (great condition) MR Selway on the guide lite frame (not MT). I am fairly new to the "better" pack game. I will use this Selway to replace a Horn Hunter I have used for the past 4 seasons (good riddance). I do mainly 2-3 day hunts for elk, deer, etc. and lots of day hunts. I think this will be a step up for sure, and help me learn the game better. Some day I will spring for a new high end pack.

My question is, what can I do to add convenience to this pack? I am thinking about some pull out from Kifaru, and a hip pocket of some sort... What other pockets, etc should I consider adding.

Thank you so much for your input!

This really depends solely on what you need to carry. Load up your new pack with all your current gear and see what is lacking. See where you’d like to have a RF if not in the pack. See where you’d like to stash rain gear for quick access. Do you need a pocket for GPS? Don’t get in a hurry and buy stuff you don’t need. You have all year to get it lined out. I just picked up a new MR Metcalf. I’m kinda going thru the same process of figuring out where I want to store what & how. Don’t get too wrapped up with the pull-out pockets. A good comparable sized dry bag will hold stuff just as well and be waterproof.

Thanks so much my friend! Good advice. I will pack it up this weekend and see where I am at.
