So every year before I head out west I "say" that I am going to get something to self film archery elk. More for the various encounters then actually filming a kill. Well last year I had a really cool cool encounter with a huge bull that I called in and he was screaming and growling at me head on. Again, I had nothing to record with. Im looking for something to attach to my bow or my head/hat. I'm pretty familiar with whats out there but was wondering who had some real work experience filming this way.

Go Pro or DJI Action 3. Could also do the Insta 360 go but it is more limiting.

Action cams are good if you're up close, like under 15 yards. Beyond that you're lucky if you can make out the animal. Self filming elk is just tough. I did buy a solvid cam strap still will have similar field of view to an action cam, but can quickly remove and have a decent zoom at your disposal. Far from perfect, but feel its one of the better options currently.
