Finally picked up my PH3 and am starting the process to see what the rifle likes best in for the big game world of 6mm Creedmor.

Open to suggestions on narrowing down what to test.

First box was Hornady Black 105gr.
Next up is Hornady ELDM 108 gr

Taking suggestions on what to try next

And thanks to all who gave suggestions on the same question I had last year with the Tikka 7RM (winner was Federal's Berger 168gr *)

* All rounds were accurate and grouped pretty tight. The Berger was just more accurater 😁

I can't speak for a Seekins. But I do know that the 108 Hornady Eldm shot extremely well from my Ruger.

108 eldm has shot really well in several 6 creeds for me, including the 24in havak ph2 I own. I'd try the Berger ammo too, the 105hyb and 108 elite hunter. They both have shot well for me.

@webhak Any issues with feeding on your 6 creed PH3?

My rounds seem to catch on the feed ramp before being chambered, mushrooming and marring the 108 ELDM.

Thanks!
Yes and no.

The rifle gave me fits with chambering rounds at first. The round wouldn't chamber correctly and I'd get a double feed. That (so far) has been solved by ensuring the magazine is fully seated. The muzzle end of the magazine will seat but the back end will "false" seat and I have to reach around and put my hand in a C clamp (fingers on top of chamber, thumb on the magazine) to push a second time on the rear of the magazine to get an audible click.

Similar, but not identical, to what you have to do with AR mags sometimes. "Did it really seat?"

Since I've double-checked the mag is properly seated, I haven't had that chambering issue.

But, I'm coming from shooting a Tikka so the PH3's 60-degree throw is taking me some time to get used to when it comes to fully cycling the bolt. The Tikka was smooth. The PH3 is smooth but takes a firmer hand to make sure the bolt is all the way to the rear.

That said, I am really digging the PH3. I'm chalking these issues up to user error and me getting used to the rifle.

NOTE: I am currently shooting the 108 ELDM.

Are you using the carbon magazine or a poly magazine? I experience with the carbon mags was that they fed roughly, although a sample size of 3. Try a polymer or metal aics mag.

I bought the berger 108 elite hunters. They shoot well out of mine but the plus for me is they use Lapua brass which will be great for reloading.

Interesting. I'm using the factory carbon mag.
