Seekins PH3 Barrel Changes

I’m new to a lot of this so bear with me. I’m 99% sold on getting a new PH3 in 6.5 PRC as I mainly hunt deer and also would like to get into more long range shooting. After reading and watching videos on the new PH3, the quick change barrel feature has me very intrigued. Since the 6.5 PRC is a shortish action, will Seekins sell me a .30 cal barrel similar to their 300 WM or PRC that I could then shoot 300WSM from? My thought process here is if I ever find myself hunting game that would benefit from a larger bullet, I could keep the rifle and only have to swap barrels as opposed to buying a whole new rifle? If they would sell just a barrel, is it that simple?

Yes. If Seekins won’t spin you up a 30 cal barrel any gunsmith can. But it will be that easy

You would also need to switch the bolt face and I don’t believe Long Action Calibers work with the short action platform.

Seekins Customer Service is excellent, feel free to give them a call and validate.

Why would he have to change bolt faces or action lengths? He asked about 6.5 PRC and 300 wsm and both a a magnum bolt face, short action?

My idea would be to have a short action platform and utilize their quick change barrels going between 6.5 PRC and 300 WSM.

What about long action to short action?
Like ordering a 280ai or 30-06 ph3 and getting a 6.5cm barrel?

Could that work?

Either scenario will work.

You should be able to buy a prefit for the 300wsm swap. If seekins doesn't chamber 300wsm then they likely won't be your huckleberry.

Using a short action cartridge in a long action can be done. The challenge will be the magazine. You will have extra length in it but it will work too.

I read this on another thread going right now:
Problem with buying the long action is that the short action mags won’t feed. Atleast this is what Seekins CS told me. Net net, LA for all long action calibers and SA for all short action calibers.

And:
Seekins CS told me that short action calibers would work with a long action but I’d have to single feed rounds because SA Mags won’t work with Long Actions.

Their guidance was buy a SA for all SA offered Calibers and buy a LA for all LA offered Calibers.

You still need to consider boltface swaps as well…

They also mentioned that there will be more calibers coming, which will be supported by aftermarket barrel companies.
