This is a hunting rifle for myself, I don’t know about you but I wanted a lightweight rig but I have certain elements I am willing to sacrifice adding weight. In this case though a 10” rail is only 3oz. The bipod can be taken on and off if I wanted to very quick. The rail is for when opportunity to take a shot off a bipod or tripod I’ll be well equipped. So far I’ve never shot an animal off a bipod and only have used it to set it on the ground when I stop to glass or something. I carry the tripod for binos and spotter and one of these days I’ll have the chance to take my time to set up the rifle to shoot off of it.Following this, as I'm still undecided on how best to stabilize my 6.5CM Element for the occasional long shot. A bipod clamped onto the front sling stud works, but the areas I frequent don't offer that many prone opportunities. I really don't want to lug around a tripod (having done that for decades for photography), nor did I want to add a rail to a rifle bought in part for its light weight unless/until I could be certain it was the way I wanted to go. Just today got one of the Abel plates in the mail, and will try it clamped onto a tripod with a bag on top, both of which I have several of. Choices and decisions . . .
What ammo? What were you getting for velocity?40 rounds
How's it shoot?Got the Arca rail mounted and swapped scope rings from vortex mediums to seekins lows. I’m liking the atlas psr bipod. Bought a mystery ranch sling and now to wait for the surpressor, sight it in , practice a bunch and she’ll be ready to goView attachment 541023
Are you going to use the ELDM for hunting ?After two full days of shooting I have her dialed. Zero’d at 100 and verified data out to 965. By far the furthest I’ve shot. Starting out with the 175gr ELDX and once I’ve filled in a few gaps on this range card I’ll switch over to ELDM.
Not quite sure. I know I’ve read both positive and negatives about it. What’s your opinion? Are you going to use the ELDM for hunting ?
