Sweet setup, thinking about copying that myself. Have one in 6.5prc with nxs 2-10 and love it.

What's the bipod weigh?
How far out have you shot with that 2.5-10? I believe it’s 4 oz. I previously ran the hatch but it was too heavy to carry around on the rifle All the time. I figure the mtn gear bipod is light enough to leave on, then if I need extra height I have the tripod with me at all times with the shooting head as well.

My home range goes out to 700yds so I regularly practice at that distance. I'll check out that bipod, thanks.

Finally got to the range to zero in. After getting zero here is my first 3 shot group.

Hows the recoil? Pretty snappy?
No terrible but ya snappy is a good word to describe it. Im running it without a muzzle brake rn because I have a suppressor coming in a couple months. After 20 rounds I definitely still feel it in my shoulder. Not sure how my wife is going to like the recoil haha

Nice rifle! You need an arca Swiss plate to balance that thing on the tripod tho man.
I have a Srs mini. It’s not exactly balanced but it’s pretty steady

Then you need one mounted way further back on the stock. A bipod rail/plate is not a good attachment point for a tripod.
Any why exactly is that? If the tripod and head can hold the weight I don’t see why not ? I’m definitely not the first or the only person running this setup…. If I’m missing something I’m genuinely interested in learning what you have to say.

Well it all boils down to balance. You are putting a ton of stress on the tip of that stock. Most of the weight is unsupported. The stock is flexing under all that weight. Any slight breeze, your heartbeat, your breathing, etc is going to make that rifle move, and those movements will be magnified due to your attachment point. A more balanced anchor will be far more stable, much easier to shoot accurately.

Weird since thats where you mount a bipod and its pretty universally accepted that a bipod is a pretty stable platform. I guess I missed the post where he was asking for input on his plate/tripod set up

What height of mtngear bipod did you go with? I’m interested in buying one as well, but haven’t decided on height.

I also put the front rail on and was wondering if my tripod could mount to it for my kids to shoot off of in a seated position. Not ideal since the weight doesn’t balance so far forward, but if it works it works

Mine is a 6.5 PRC Element, and absolutely loving it!
