Took my element out to the range yesterday and put rounds 20-40 through it. After listening to the Hornady Podcast I decided to just let 20 rip into the same target and see what my results would be. This was factory Precision Hunter 175 ELD-X. The results were not that impressive with a group at about 2.2. I will be hand loading for it with Bergers once I get my brass from unknown. I have shot several Precision Hunters in 6.5 CM and 300 PRC with much better results but I have never done a 20 shot group like this before.
I was a fairly calm day with erratic 10 mph winds. MY ES was 62 with velocities from 2933 to 2871. I was shooting off a decent bench with a bipod and rear bag. I would say I was reasonably stable and I am no marksman. I was getting about and inch for 20 rounds with Berger 156 handholds out of my 6.5PRC yesterday for reference. Any thoughts here? I did not expect to put 20 into a ragged hole but no way expected this.
