Looking at the Element in 300wm. I like the low weight (6lbs element vs 7.2 PH2) and handiness of the rifle as I would like a do it all mountain rifle that can take a longer poke if needed. My concern is that the ballistic advantage of the 300 wm would be diminished by the 22 in barrel. Question is by how much? Thoughts? Anybody have one that has measured velocity?

Wow that’s great performance especially with a heavy bullet! If I could get that I’d be happy but I’m hearing velocity changes all over the place. I called Seekins and they said they see 100-125 drop on average with the Element 300wm. Which makes me lean toward the PH2 for 300wm.

Only loss I have seen on 300WM in a 22" barrel is less than 50 fps total.
I think it depends on the barrel but I would say a 50 FPS total loss going to a 22 is not common. I am thinking it should be more like 25-50 FPS per inch all things considered equal.

I would go with the Ph2 in a heartbeat, I can’t understand a 300 WM with a 22 inch barrel lots of muzzle blast and lost velocity. If I wanted an element I would pick one of the 6.5’s and run with it.

That’s in line with what Seekins said. 100-150 total. Varies per barrel and load obviously.

I’ve ran several 300 WM’s over the last 25 years most of the time I lose a solid 50-75 FPS going from 26 to 24 inch barrel.
