Seekins Chassis now available

I haven’t found one without modification fwiw. I run a 7wsm. Use metal in XLR and everything else.

Good news is it functions perfectly. Bad news is it’s 4.5oz.

I emailed them too. They said the same I asked if they planned to make a CF AICS variant like they did for 308 based cartridge. No response (guessing not).

Edit: I have a Hawkins Hunter mag that worked in the XLR in a savage (7wsm). It doesn’t work with the tikka. I swore I read on here somewhere that someone modified that mag to work with a tikka. If that’s an easy mod that would be the way.

Anyone know how long shipping times are on these chassis? I ordered a tikka SA and it said backordered when I checked out. Tried reaching out to Seekins a couple times through email but no response.

I don’t know directly from Seekins. I saw @buckeye_optics say he had some in stock. Cancelled my Seekins direct order (placed 24 Feb) and got one from him. Shipped next morning.

For those wondering about tikka fitment for CF barrels. This is a C6 featherlight 20”. I don’t think any larger would fit. I can slither 2 pieces of paper under it but there’s not a ton of room.

Fit and finish is spectacular. With the XLR CF grip, it weighs 34.2oz.

Went out again yesterday. It's completely manageable without the bag rider. Did another 65 rounds. Popped a random beer bottle at 340 using just my hand as a bag. Feels weird since its just a metal beam, but it's not heavy enough to be uncomfortable. Also went 5/5 on 8" steel at 400. Only went 2/5 on the 2MOA steel at 840, but wind was very sporadic at that point and my random load was shooting over 1 MOA.

It wasn't needed, but I ordered a backstop recoil pad to try out. I'll grab some weights when that arrives.

Super nitpicky of me, but I'm not sold on the small arca plates, especially the rear one. I came across this tiny sideways Arca plate. I bet that feels much better if I need to grab it. I also might downsize the front plate. It's a lot longer than I need. I could probably make the small one work up front, so I may try that.

The one from Seekins mounts sideways like that as well and is a bit rounded making it seem a bit more integral. I messed with them on the slams at Scheels. They are in stock too.

Ah, I completely glossed over that. I thought it was just a standard mini Arca. I do like the smaller profile of the Annex, but that rounded might be good as well. 🤔 I need to think this through before I end up spending $1000 to test MLok accessories. 😂

The way seems to put it with threaded screws in the two predrilled holes they have right in front of mag well.

Also it “appears” it will fit in those two holes prior to the mlok based on the pictures. That is my exact balance point with a can. I’m gonna go your route and try the SRS mini tomorrow.

If you have a decent hardware store, try to find large base/flanged head Allen head screws. 10-24x3/4". I'm using standard allen button head screws and it's just barely wide enough for the slot. Slightly wider washers would work as well.

I’ll have to toss a buddies in there to confirm
Did you ever try the sendero contour? I have a proof carbon match, and it looks iffy on fitment and proof diagrams don’t show the exact measurement at 17” for clearance per seekins spec sheet. It APPEARS it may be too thick, but proof diagrams also seem to show a slight taper after 5.5”. I don’t have a set of calipers to measure.

Got the Backstop recoil pad. The plushness is more consistent across the pad vs the factory unit kinda has lumps. (I selected 8-9lbs rifle)
Fit is ~95%. It's slightly oversized on the stock whereas the factory is flush. Alignment is just a hair off on the top. Contour is also not perfect. I can feel slight inconsistent overhang in the center, but that's nitpicking pretty hard. On the plus side, i saved 0.7oz 😂

Would be curious to your thoughts between the two with recoil while shooting if you’d be willing to swap them one more time.

I was planning to do that this weekend. In all honesty, my little 6.5CM doesn't kick much at all. It might be hard to feel a difference.

My used HNT26 came with one and it's a pussycat behind 7Mag. The two rifles are within a couple ounces of each other and felt recoil is not much different.

Fairly happy with the SRS mini arca. I had little washers and threw them on. Balances perfect.

Is that the hawkins hunter magazine your using? I have my chassis ordered, would like to have a magazine to use when it arrives.

Thanks
It is. Like Hawkins and Seekins says, it won’t fit as it comes.

I filed it down a good amount. It works well now though. Fits pretty snug (no rattle). But it sits nearly flush and is half the weight as metals. Counting it as a win.

Completes the chassis well.

Thread that discusses below:

Annex Sidekick Arca's came in. They use standard 10-24 countersunk bolts for the MLok hardware, so it was easy to find longer hardware. Got one installed up front with the provided hardware and one installed in the threaded slot. The threaded holes lined up perfectly. They have MLok slot indexing protrusions, so they self center unlike the SRS rails.

My MTN Gear bipod is perfect for this setup. The sideways arca makes the bipod setup extremely slender.

In general, it's a little awkward to work the Arca clamps, but it's not impossible. I'm very happy with this. Extremely compact. Can barely feel it.
