Seekins Chassis now available

I have on inbound for a tikka with a CF barrel. Currently in an element. Weight is right at 38oz or so in the lightest folding configuration I can manage.

So with the CF grip swap, if the Seekins is around 32oz and equally (if not more) functional I’ll be pretty happy.

I like the XLR, but for cheaper, lighter, better feel I’d be pretty happy.

I may have missed this, but can you run the Seekins carbon mags in this in a 700 clone? Or could you need one of their actions to make those work? I previously understood you needed the bottom metal from their rifles but this would solve that in my mind and let guys run their 3.1” SA mags.

The AICS pattern carbon mags should work but not the 3.1” PRC and 3.9” long action carbon mags.

I took mine out today for initial break in and functionality. I will need to file down the mag a touch more to get the mag to seat higher into the inlet but other than that it worked great.

It is noted that the factory action screws needed to be cut down to work in this chassis.

I’ve attached weight pics along the way but it all started with a factory tikka T3x lite chambered in .308, 20” barrel threaded. 95.91oz no magazine.

I removed the factory stock and replaced with a seeking hunter element folder stock. 101.94oz no magazine

I went with Warne hyper lite lows, Leupold vx5 gen 1. Total weight including a mlok spartan viddar adaptor and magpul 5rd mag. 128.36oz
With rugged Alaskan ti and cover. 138.38oz.

This rifle loves the factory federal 168 bergers, coming in at 3/4moa.

Factory stock weight: 30.09oz
Seekins stock weight: 36.19oz

I swear the metric base-10 system is so much easier to follow. Big ounces hurts my brain.

95.91oz = 5lbs 15.91oz
101.94oz = 6lbs 5.94oz
128.36oz = 8lbs 0.36oz
138.38oz = 8lbs 10.38oz

Should be close to 33oz with a CF grip. That’s solid.

I already have an XLR. There are a bunch of cheaper options though. I snagged one of these recently and it’s 1.3oz and only $20.

Hogue “overmold” is really good too for a small weight penalty. Not sure I’d pay for the XLR in hindsight.

Awesome man, super helpful.

I've seen their small sideways ARCA plate (among others like the Annex Sidekick, etc...) and they are slick for tripods, but none of my bipods would work with a sideways ARCA.

Like the idea of printing that so it fits better. If you want to share the STL lots of guys have printers now if you're not trying to sell them!

I thought about the arca rail a bit more and it's not going to work the way I want to tuck it closer to the chassis. I'd be cutting into the structural integrity of the bolt interface, which is the opposite of what you'd want with plastic. A full length rail would also cover the QD cup about 4" down the rail, so i'm calling it quits on that side project.

Had some rewards for Scheels, so I ended up buying an SRS mini arca for the rear (very similar to the Seekins Hunter Arca) and a 4" tactical rail for the front. The 4" front should work nicely for the bipod and my garmin chrono mount, and it shouldn't cover the QD cup for sling duty.
