Seekins Chassis now available

I figured I would drop this picture in here. I’ll try to go into more detail and answer questions as they come up. Sorry if I’m a little slow. If you have felt the slam chassis, this is gonna have a similar feel they do the carbon a little different than the slam I think much like the element hunter the configuration I got from them to test came in right at 32 ounces and the folder is solid probably one of the features I love the most about it and the fact that it collapses over the bolt still I am able to run AICS magazines what is that including their carbon magazine that they make.
Any chance you could measure the barrel length at the forend? In other words, what's the shortest barrel you could put in it?

If a feller wanted one of these for a tikka 6.5prc, would he be better off with long or short action magazines?
So it appears they don’t make a AICS CF mag for thicker cases in either action.

So it really depends how long you load the 6.5PRC. The LA metal AICS mags are pretty stout. If you load less than 2.98” or so I’d go SA to save the length/weight.

If Seekins makes a PRC SA or LA CF AICS (like their SA) it will be a really good setup.

Mine measures out to 11.25".. So plenty of room to run a 16" barrel w/ a 4" OTB can such as the OGs. Or even better, throw on a 12" barrel and SBR it :ROFLMAO:

Caveat is mine is the Seekins inlet version of the chassis and not the Tikka. I highly doubt there is any difference in foreend length between the two inlet options but just wanted to clarify.

I think you could get away with the short action, but probably be better to get the long action if you hand load and run those bullets out pretty far

So that’s a 4 inch over the barrel can on a 16.25 inch barrel. I guess there’s about 2 inches of Barrel exposed there so you could probably get away with a 10 1/2 inch barrel but I’ll confirm tonight.

Awesome that's my favorite grip too. Any idea what the seekins grip weighed to conpare
It comes with the grip in the link below, looks like ~4.5oz, meaning there are 2 - 3 ounces to be saved by switching the grip to something like the MDT Carbon or XLR Smoke..

Thanks for the info. I think a 12.5" 6gt sbr would be quite the handy package.

Just saw another comment in another thread about barrel channel. Will a light profile CF barrel fit? .750” at the end (20”). It’s a C6 Sendero lite profile.

@TBoschma how much clearance does your barrel pictured have? It seems a tad thicker contour.

Seekins has this diagram on their Element Hunter rifle. If the channel has a linear taper as it suggests, this maths out to ~0.85" at 11.5" out from the action.

I might be in trouble with my BSF barrel.... Though the channel does seem very shallow, so I might be ok. TBD. Might have a chassis for sale in a couple months.

So measured. My CF is .770” at 17”.

FWIW a D18 tikka barrel is exactly .700” at 17”.

Their CF barrels are a pretty light contour.

My element hunter is pretty liberal with excess space between the barrel and fore-end so I'm guessing you may be ok.

That's good to hear. I'll definitely report back when I get the thing. Worst case I try out a CarbonSix barrel and 6CM at the same time.......
