My buddy and I used my 6 man SO tipi in Alaska this fall on our fly-in moose hunt.

It was perfect for 2 guys and gear.

You’re gonna need a real big tipi - I’d suggest using two smaller sized

3 with the stove was manageable in the Redcliff (8 man). I'd suggest bigger if you were dead set on 4 people and a stove.

Your going to love that tent. I just got back from a solo trip multi overnights in MT wilderness in my cimarron light.

No, have the 8 with the carbon pole. We've backcountry hunted pretty far in with 3 and the stove and it was very double weight wise. But 3 with stove with rifles, packs, all gear, wood, a couple stools, socks and long underwear hanging drying, etc.....it was very full. With some organization and maybe a small tarp to stash some gear or wood outside and you can do 4 no problem. That said the extra couple feet diameter of the 12 is what I'd want if 4 and stove was the norm.

Everyone's opinion of what's comfortable vs. what's doable vs. what won't work is different. A rule of thumb shared by a member in a different thread on this site is for cold weather use to take the size of the shelter (8 man, 12 man, etc.) and divide by 4. For me that always comes up with an accurate estimate of what size shelter will work for me when using the stove in my tipis. As I stated in the first line of this post, there are lots of different opinions on this topic.
Hope this helps.

That probably works for the tipis. For the Cimarron (listed as four person) two with the stove is plenty comfortable with room for gear. Never used the stove when I had a Redcliff (six person) but I would imagine that three with the stove would be decently comfortable.

We did three with the LBO, base-tarp-vest, and fit three with a stove. Width was a little bit of an issue due to the moisture that naturally builds on the walls.

I have the 16 man tipi with a stove. With 5 guys and gear we had room for atleast one more and maybe even some saddles.

For 4 I would get the 12 man. You can run a smaller stove and maybe get a carbon fiber pole.

I personally like the 12p for 2p. I've been using it in the rainforest of SE AK for over a decade. It provides enough room to set up two cots, store wood, and protect all our gear from the elements. That's when it is the most cozy. Two guys can comfortably get all their kit assembled and roast a cozy fire. I've carried it into the backcountry but wouldn't use it backpack style hunting.
