As much as I would like a Kirafu pack I just cant afford it. I was looking around and found a company seek outside. They make a pack called the Paradox. more affordable and pretty light. I just cannot find much info or feedback on it. Anyone have any?

Only used one for just a bit. The paradox is certainly a great option at a lesser price point than some of the Kifaru packs and worth your consideration without a doubt.

I can answer any questions you may have about the Paradox.

Paradox Packs are very different from any other design on the market because we felt that many other designs were failures in one area or another. Our pack is IMO the most comfortable on the market with heavy loads by a wide margin, and it is truly comfortable and doesn't feel like a backbrace at light loads due to the articulating frame.

This means the pack adapts well to a wide variety of uses from summer backpacking, thru hiking, mountaineering, winter camping, pack rafting, and due to the weight hauling ability it's great for hunting.

We offer X-Pac packbag fabric because it is waterproof for the life of the fabric. This means that if you seam seal the bags you won't need a raincover for the pack, and you won't need separate stuff sacks inside the bag to keep your stuff dry. The fabric will also absorb less moisture, meaning it won't bloodstain as easy and won't double in weight in an all day rain.

Our quality of construction is extremely high. We use cordura, hypalon, good quality webbing, and ITW Nexus hardware. The pack bags are fully edge bound. The pack will stand up to hard use for a very long time.

Our adjustable frame height turns the pack from load hauler to daypack very easily. This is doable in the field.

Our new UL frame paired with the UL fabric means you can get a 4800 ci pack with a 120 lb load rating under 3 LBS, and pay $428 for it.

You may also want to check out Dave Chennaults review of our pack on Backpacking Light. This is an independent review and we did not get an advance copy before it came out. He had our pack for three months and put over 300 miles on it in a wide variety of uses. The review is around 6000 words and incredibly detailed. The only downside is you need to be a BPL member or purchase the article to see more than the summary.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I got a Paradox pack back in December with the Day Talon. So far I am really liking it. I have had as little as 10 pounds in it while shooting my bow and I have had as much as 90 pounds in it so far. After working out some adjustments it has felt great at both weight extremes. Still putting it through it's paces. I will say that the customer service has been superb. They are quick to answer any questions you have and are very friendly. Still getting aquiainted with the pack but am glad I made the purchase.

I thought the price for paradox frame was $299 and kifarru bikini w/alum stay $336 were pretty close.

Not sure on bag options for the paradox but the bikini will fit all kifaru bags and a few have put the MR longbow on the kifaru frames. The one thing I wish was in the above pack review is the complete price range of the packs in different colors so people don't only see the most expensive option because one pack is camo when the other isn't.

You can get a kifaru bikini with 4800ci highcamp in solid colors for $541 and bikini w/7k highcamp for$565, so $50 more then the comparable paradox packs in solids.

I say check them both out. Heck you might even find a like new used highcamp bag in the classifieds for a good price if you keep your eye on it.

The Evo comes with all compression straps and a load shelf at 2.5 lbs and $299. Other frames require additional purchases to give that same functionality.

Some of our combos:

Evo / 4800 Gray / Base Talon - $499, 5800 ci capacity, 3.75 lbs. That's 96.67 ci / oz of weight.

Evo / 6300 Gray / Base Talon - $558, 7300 ci capacity, 3 lbs 14 oz. That is 117 ci / oz of pack weight.

I have never seen the Paradox pack, but the shelter I have (BCS2) from Seek Outside is top notch build quality. I would be confident that the packs are the same quality.

I spent the better part of November '13 with a pre-production Paradox tester pack. Day tripped with it, 5-7 day trips and a horse trip. Lots to like about the pack, including the weight and how well it carries weight. I liked it enough to order one for myself. Looking forward to putting lots of miles on it in 2014... :)

Thanks for all the info guys. I have had the eberlestock dragonfly since they came out and the older I get the heavier it gets. LOL I have been researching different packs for awhile now trying to figure out what the best pack is for my budget.. alot of great packs out there. I am sure you will laugh at me but what would your input be on the new cabelas instict packs?

crazyelk, I took a look at the instinct. Lots of pockets, 210D coated ripstop pack fabric, airflow suspension, and 3 lbs 12 oz.

From a pack design aspect they lowered the weight by going with 210D ripstop, added weight with all the pockets, and for a true meat hauling pack I would be wary of the term "airflow suspension" especially on an internal.

If you want a pack of this type take a look at the Badlands Sacrifice as well. I bet they are similar in design.

I wouldn't think you will gain anything in comfort with the Cabelas pack over your Dragonfly. Whereas with the Paradox you will.

Paradox will be a VERY comfortable pack. The articulating belt helps with the fit on just about any body shape. I had quite a few of my friends try it on while I had it and many were very impressed with how it fit.

Here is the biggest thing that people will recognize right off the bat. The Paradox is VERY different than other packs. When you pull it out of the box you will look at it and wonder how in the world it works etc. After you try it on and mess around with it some you will get over the difference in looks, and realize the pack is all about function.

Check out the review on Backpacking Light. That review is in depth, and fairly scientific in it's approach.

Thanks for the kind comments but you make the paradox sound homely :). Maybe I'm odd but I think this is a sexy looking pack as well

Couple of questions about the lids .I guess you can strap a Ram's head on top of the roll top with those straps? And with the other lid how does it fit when the pack is not full and will it wrap around a ram skull ? Pictures on the website don't show the lid all that well.
