Seat for Turkey Hunting

I bought a low to the ground hunting chair last year...it's fine if you're posted up in one spot, but to me the point of turkey hunting is mobility. And that thing was way too bulky to pack around. Then bought another not very expensive thermarest seat I don't like either, not enough padding. Not comfortable if sitting more than 15-20 minutes.

So, given that I am 0/2 on my own, I am now soliciting recommendations for a seat cushion for turkey hunting, which could also potentially double in a deer stand. Good padding (comfort) and easy to carry are priorities. Thanks!

If you run and gun hunt, something like an inflatable cushion that’s attached to your belt might be the most convenient thing.

Sounds like you need a Glenda Green Inner Tube Seat. I wont go in the woods without mine.

What's the chair you bought first?

I've been using the h.s. one for a few years. One buckle straps it to my backpack.

All the really comfortable seat pads are heavy. Thermarest has some lighter ones that are sufficient. If you're sitting more than 20 minutes, and often you need to, accommodate a chair.

Alps makes an aluminum chair. It's not camo. You have to do that yourself. A chair or a vest with kickstands allows you to set up in places that don't have natural backrests. There's not much point in setting to a gobbler in the wrong spot.

You're better off using the chair and saving the weight off your gun. YIldiz makes some very lightweight single barrels. My .410 plus a chair weigh about the same as the old 3.5" 12ga auto I used to carry years ago.

Long term you have a point. But just bought a new 22 lr, so it's not gonna be this year. Seat cushions are very cheap, shotguns are not.

Kings Camo makes a pack called the sly dog ground & pound chair that has some legs that pop out so you have a backrest. Kinda pricey for what it is but works good for me.

Crazy creek chair is what I use, not a seat cushion - better. If you haven't used one, you don't sit in one like an "L", they are closer to a "V" with your knees up, perfect for turkey. If I'm working a bird I tighten it up to have my knees way up and tight, makes a great shooting position. The bottom of the chair sits out a bit from the base of the tree, so you don't have an issue with finding a position where butt swell (google that :) ) doesn't cause an issue.

I have never found the perfect balance of comfort and convenience for run and gun hunting- I don't think it exists. I don't use blinds, so I simply have a thick cushion with a back on it and try to sit up against a tree. Everything else I have seen is bulky, and the backpack/seats are too thin.

Everyone is different.
I have one of the fold up low chairs as well and really like it.
I dont use the normal Turkey Vest. I use my normal Backpack ( Kifaru Stryker) and also run a Gun Bearer to make carrying the shotgun easier for me also.
A lot for me on what I take is depending on where and how I hunt also. If im hunting around home its more wooded areas. But also have one place I go from time to time that is more CRP type fields. So for that I carry a small foldup blind that works well. When I hunt the CRP fields its more pick a spot and stay all day in the same place.
If Im hunting wooded areas I do more run and gun and dont carry the small blind.
