Drew a late season tag that hopefully will work between kids sports, family obligations and work. Talked to the biologist and some locals/friends of friends that said there aren't any elk left, at least on their side of the range. Looking to see if there was Rokslider that I could bounce some ideas off of. No units in the thread should be self explanatory, pm me if you're good with sharing some details.

Driving about 8 hours to the unit from North Idaho one way with a 5 day window. Nov15-30th, I'm setup for the weather both spiking out or with a base camp.

Wondering on what to bring for a set of backcountry wheels. Ebike or SXS, tracks or tires? plan for snow?
Should I focus on private access or make it a public land adventure?
realistic expectations for what caliber of bulls I would find?

thanks!

Without stating unit what side of the state did you draw I am in SW Idaho & I am very familiar with the units from McCall south & east to Mtn Home areas

OK well I cant help you with any spots on that side, Leave that E-bike at home, take the SXS & for sure chains. Almost a guarantee there will be snow in Nov, keep in mind those elk are not going to be in the back county in Nov they will be headed for their winter grounds

good advice, thanks! Got a few private ground guys to call but looking forward to some cooler weather in the hills.
